New Tamil film Kutty : Review

Dhanush is the upcoming young actor in Tamil film industry. He had grown a lot and is now all set to become one among the top league actors. His latest film to reach the theates for this year's Ponkal season was Kutty, which had Shriya Saran as the female lead. As per the initial reports, this new Dhanush starrer is all set to emerge as the Ponkal hit of 2010.

This is the fourth straight success for the actor, which started from Polladavan, Yaaredi Nee Mohini, Padikkathavan and now Kutty. This new film is the remake of the Telugu blockbuster, Arya, which was a huge success in Malayalam too. The main reason behind the success of this film is the feel-good factor that may work with the family audiences.

According to distributors what has worked for the film is its low budget and reasonable price it has been sold to the distributors. This is the second film for the dierctor Jawahar, after the much accomplished Yaaredi Nee Mohini. The major highlight of the film is the brilliant camera work and music and background score of Devi Sri Prasad.

All in all, this new Dhanush starrer, Kutty can be considered as a clean, honest, romantic musical film, that’s a worth watch to the family audiences.

New Malayalam movie Daddy Cool review

Superstar Mammootty's latest Malayalam movie Daddy Cool got released today. This new film directed by debutant director Aashiq Abu opened in around 80 centers all across the state. This new Mammootty starrer is said to be a hillarious family entertainer, which was produced by Ananya films and distributed by Marikkar films.

As per the initial reports, this new film is carrying an impressive initial reviews, which will surely help the movie to get into the safer side as early as possible. Actually, this new film is just only an average flick with nothing new in it. Frankly speaking, it's very clear that the major letdown is in the part of script, which has a problem that most of it's characters are one dimensional.

In the acting side, Mammootty as usual has made a descent effort to make his character a notable one. The other notable actors in the film were master Dhananjay, Biju Menon and Daniel Balaji. All others have done their respective jobs very nicely except the heroine Richa Pallod. Even though her role in this movie is a short one, she was really amatuerish in her acting.

In the technical side, the debutant director Aashiq Abu has done good work though his script is weak. Sameer Thahir, the young cinematographer has done his work, but don’t expect anything above average. High decibel background music in many places and the title graphics at the start was really a treat to viewers. Songs in this film are also not mind blowing.

All in all, this new Mammootty starrer Daddy Cool is an average flick, that has the potential to make into the hit charts, if it's not challenged with anyother big movies. This film may appeal to you, if you are a follower of cliched family entertainers and according to me this new movie is a watchable one, that too with your kids.

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham : Review

Superstar Mammootty's much awaited flick, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham has finally released all across Kerala in around 92 centers. This new film took an excellent start mainly due to the huge fan base of the actor. Directed by Johny Antony, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is produced by S Benchamin in the banner of High bright films.

This film, which is said to be a hilarious slapstick comedy may work with the childrens, but all in all this film is a major let down. More was expected from a director who previously directed a nice film like Cycle and from the script writers Sibi K Thomas and Udaya Krishnan after their multi starrer Twenty 20 and also from Mr Mammootty, who had delivered so many memorable films to the Malayalam film industry.

In the acting side, Mammootty does a double act of Bhootham as well as Jimmy, the circus stunt man. Mammooty’s character Jimmy is eye candy while his second character won’t appeal much, mostly due to the childish voice which may get misidentified. Role of Kavya Madhavan in this film is very tiny eventhough she plays an important character. Suraj and Salim Kumar did their part with some nice comedies and the whole remaining cast were just ok with their roles.

In the technical side, major let down was from the part of the director himself. Either he should have opted for a nice script or should have done the film in an interesting manner, but finally, he failed miserably. Other thing to be critised in the movie is the graphical works that dragged the releasing date of this movie to a large extend. Animation done in film is visible to the eyes of every other viewer who were familiar with visual amusements in most of the English films.

Simply, the main reason that works against the movie is that story line, characters and situations are all predictable, which is acceptable for a fantasy movie but it could have done in a different manner. All the men, who worked for this film in it's technical part have just done ok with no one of them really showing any type of excellence from their part. Music by Shaan too was a let down, which could have improved.

All in all, this new Malayalam film Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is an average flick. I prefer you to watch the movie, if you like to watch films that just entertains you with nothing new to offer at all.

Thoranai : Review

Thoranai, new Tamil film featuring Vishal and Shriya Saran in the lead was released worldwide today. The Telugu version of the film was titled as Pista. This new film was labeled as yet another action flick from Vishal and finally it seems that the film was actually a blend of action, romance, sentiments and comedy. Qiute frankly speaking, this new film can be considered as the same old wine in a new label.

The main problem that lies with this film is that it fails to deliver freshness to the audience, which means a threadbare script centered on a predictable plot. The film miserably failed to come up with an engaging script too, that featured a meaningless film, with nothing happening in the first half of the film. The film can be considered as an overcooked stew.

All the artists who have performed in this film were just okay, with nobody coming up with any kind of excellent works. The most pathetic moment was when Vishal tried his luck at comedy. This film is a major letdown that has only the six songs by Mani Sharma and Shriya Saran’s glamour to hold on the viewers.

In the technical part, first man to be criticised will be none other than the director, Saba Iyyapan, who is a debutant. He had come up with a story that is as old as a hill and even failed in presenting the film in an interesting manner too. Almost all the crew members have just gone through their jobs with no serious commitment at all.

All in all, this new film Thoranai is a time pass movie, if and only if you wishes to watch such type of mass masala films. Let's conclude, this film is an average film with nothing new in it.

Passenger : Review

New Malayalam film, Passenger released today. This new Malayalam film featured Dileep and Sreenivasan in the lead roles. Mamta Mohandas was also in the film with an important role. This new film was directed by a debutant director Ranjit Shankar and was distributed all around Kerala by Central Pictures.

According to my view, this film is a worth one to watch. This film is all about a fateful night that changed the lives of some people in a convincing manner. This film, which is an edge of the seat thriller succeeded in keeping the intricacies of the narrative intact. All the credit for the makers of this film, for making it in such a good manner.

The major plus point with this film is that all the actors in the film have performed to their level best. The acting skills of Sreenivasan was once again proved. Mamta and Nedumudi Venu palyed their roles very well. Dileep, after a bunch of wasteful characters have got a powerful role to perform. Jagathy's role as the villian is also a treat to watch.

In the technical part, all the credits must be given to the debutant director for his excellent work. He have done an excellent work in presenting the story as an engrossing thriller. Even though, the film has its loose ends in the script it is not at all a bad one when compared with some of the recently released movies.

All in all, this new film Passenger is a must watch. I promise, it won't be a let down and also this new film features a strong message to the people of current society. This film will surely end up it's run as a good notable one.

Moz And Cat : Review

Dileep's latest film Moz And Cat has released all across Kerala in around 67 screens. This new film from veteran director Fazil is Dileep's Vishu offering to the viewers of Malayalam films and is expected to create big reports from the family audience. The movie produced and distributed by Johny Sagariga fetched the best of the theatres in all major cities.

Quite frankly speaking, this new Dileep starrer is nothing but a major disappointment. The whole package looks dull and outdated, the storyline is confusing and lacks clarity, the situations are jaded and artificial, and most of the performances are quite ordinary. Screenplay is the much weaker link in the movie and the dialogues sound contrived and melodramatic.

The major advantage with this film is that it have introduced a new heroine to Malayalam, Aswathy Ashok. She as well as the little girl Baby Nivedita were ok with their roles. Dileep tried his level best to make the movie interesting but failed miserably since even a great actor is not able to make a movie great if the script is such a weak one. The major let down when the acting is considered will be actor Rahman, who was totally a nonsense throughout the film.

In the technical part, the major let down is from the director of the movie, Fazil himself. It can be quite clearly stated that the veteran director is nowhere near to his golden times. This film can be considered as his worst movie till date. Rest of the team were simply ok with their own jobs. Music of the movie conducted by veteran Ouseappachan can be considered as a descent one when compared with the others.

All in all, this new Dileep starrer Moz And Cat is a boring one with the same old cliched story. I prefer you to stay away from the theatres where this movie is playing.

Ayan : Review

Most Handsome hero of Tamil Cinema, Surya's latest film Ayan has released worldwide yesterday. This new film Ayan is considered to be a breezy, racy, fun ride filled with some essential commercial elements like sentiments and an item number. This new film was directed by K V Anand and it featured South Indian actress Tamanna for the first time opposite to Surya.

As per the initial reports, this new Surya starrer Ayan has opened to rave reviews and almost all the trade analysts are predicting that Ayan will be this year's first Superhit in Tamil film industry. The first half of this film is fast and furious, and makes you want more but post interval the proceedings slow down a bit, which is the major let down. This film works mainly due to the director's fresh and innovative handling of a wafer thin story.

Almost all the stars in this film have performed very well, but it's Surya and Jagan (Surya's friend), who have simply stolen the show. Tamanna and Prabhu very amazing. Franz Spilhaus the action co-ordinator deserves standing accloades for his mind blowing stunt choreography. Harris Jayaraj’s music is peppy and the background score is awesome. M.S Prabhu’s camera, Antony’s editing and Rajeevan’s set design were all upto the mark.

Once again, the producer's of this new film Ayan, AVM and the distributor's Sun Pictures have proven that they are the best in business when it comes with the marketing and making of new generation Tamil films. All in all, Ayan is a perfect summer entertainer.

Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded : Review

Superstar Mohanlal's latest offering Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded has reached about 102 theatres today. This new film from Mohanlal is considered to be the most stylish film ever made in the Malayalam film industry. This new film which is a highly hyped stylish action thriller was directed by young director Amal Neerad and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirwad Cinemas.

Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded was said to be a stylish film and it was correct but the major concern with the film is that there is not a basic story to deal with. Script writer S N Swamy, who is well known for his story based action films have let us down with a storyless film. Director of this film, Amal Neerad too have let us down by not making the film upto the expectations. The director has rehashed certain scenes, locations and characters from his earlier BigB.

This new film is all about a soft hearted gangster named as Saagar Alias Jackie, which is a very popular name with the hit film Irupatham Noottandu, a film which was directed by K Madhu and scripted by S N Swamy. While watching this film it felt that Swamy has remade his earlier film Irupatham Noottandu, which was a far better entertainer.

In the acting side, Mohanlal the most flexible actor in Indian cinema, as usual is a treat to watch but the rest of the cast was not upto the mark. Bhavana, heroine of the movie is wasted with not such a notable role whereas Shobhana was perfect with her role. Manoj K Jayan was ok and out of the villians (too much) Sambath and Suman were watchable whereas others were wasted with nothing really to do. Jagathy Sreekumar is wasted while Jyothirmayi's item dance was not upto to the mark to make the audience crazy.

In the technical side, Amal Neerad has employed the regular technique used by Ram Gopal Varma, Vishnu Vardhan and others to make their film look stylish. All his crew members have done their jobs quite decently. The music department was not upto the mark whereas the camera work done by the director himself is superb.

All in all, this new film Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded is the perfect example of the new style of film making. The film is definitely a watchable one with it's stylish way of making and for the locations and look it provides. With a bumber opening like this, this new film from Mohanlal is surely expected to become a notable hit in this year's calendar.

Raaz - The Mystery Continues : Review

Bollywood's latest movie Raaz - The Mystery Continues has been released worldwide today. It is a horror movie that follows the genre of hits like Bhoot, Phoonk and 1920 etc. The film was produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films. The director of this new horror movie is much experienced Mohit Suri. Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman are the lead actors in the film.

Let's check whether the film is good enough to watch? The answer for the question is definitely a big yes. As per the initial reports, the film lives up to the hype and expectations completely. The story is the main highlight of the film which is expected to be a sequel to Vishesh Films yesteryear hit Raaz which was the biggest grosser in Bollywood of that year. Raaz too was a horror movie which featured Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu in the lead role. However, the makers of the Raaz 2 have clarified that it's not a sequel to the Raaz.

The film have excelled in most part of it and will surely end it's run as a profit earner. The film have featured some blunders also but it's overpowered by the excellence of the film. A brooding artist Prithvi [Emraan Hashmi] experiences mysterious and distressing visions about Nandita [Kangna Ranaut], a woman he has never met, while he paints on canvas. Intrigued by these visions, Prithvi tracks her down and warns her that these are not merely paintings of her, but accidents that are waiting to happen.

At first, Nandita refuses to believe him and dismisses him as an eccentric stalker. However, the striking resemblance between Prithvi's paintings and the near-death incidents in her life is hard to ignore. Now, one of Prithvi's paintings has revealed her as dead. The only way she can change her fate is to unravel this mystery with his help, at the risk of alienating herself from her boyfriend, Yash [Adhyayan Suman]. But he refuses to believe in Prithvi's premonitions. Will Nandita risk her love and her life to unravel this mystery?

When it comes to artists, all the lead actors have performed very well out of which Emraan have outraged everyone in the film. He is excellent in the film and is improving day by day which is a good sign of a professional actor. Kangana have made it good just like her previous films like Gangster and Fashion and is on the mission to make it big at the industry. Adhyayan Suman on his debut have showed some promises that he is going to stay here for a while. Jackie Shroff too have done good with his brief role.

On the technical part, the film have excelled in almost all parts and out of which the major thing to be noted is the contribution of the director of the movie, Mohit Suri. He has made it right from the starting, ie from the casting itself. We can easily state that this film will be Mohit's one of the best works so far. He has has filmed it exceptionally well, but there are some mistakes in the process also like the the entire flashback part, towards the pre-climax which is not as convincing. The ending too could've been better in terms of writing. Ravi Walia's cinematography and Shagufta's screenplay are also some among the highlights of the movie.

All in all, Raaz - The Mystery Continues is rich in the horror quotient and that is one of its major USPs, besides the highly competent performances by its principal cast and a very ordinary musical score. Do you like getting scared then you should surely watch this movie for once atleast. The crew of the film have every right to enjoy the output of the movie because they have worked for it restlessly and you can find it when you watch the movie.

Chandni Chowk To China : Review

The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar's latest offering to his fans was Chandni Chowk to China, that got released today. The film that released worldwide with about 1400 prints was directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Warner Bros in association with Ramesh Sippy. The first big budget film of 2009 will feature Deepika Padukone in the lead with two different style of roles.

The film is nothing less than a coward transcending into a hero, and an estranged family getting unified. The film is promoted as First Ever Bollywood Kung Fu comedy but unfortunately there is not even that much of comedy and Kung Fu in the film that a normal film will possess. Other thing that was highlighted in the movie was the stunts choreographed by Huen Chiu-Ku. Everyone expected a mind blowing stunt sequences but nothing is there to be noted in the film.

In this film, Akshay Kumar plays dumber than dumb Sidhu, a vegetable cutter in Chandni Chowk who was adopted by his loving employer Dada (Mithun Chakraborty). Tired of working a lot and gaining little, Sidhu is keen on changing his destiny, which he believes can happen by listening to the local quack baba Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), named thus for his knowledge of Indian and Chinese astrology. So when Sidhu finds a potato on which he finds Lord Ganesha has been carved, he adopts the vegetable as a lucky charm calling it `bappa’. For reasons that need not be questioned, two Chinese gentlemen – Indian tourists – insist that Sidhu is a reincarnation of their slain hero and can save their village from the evil Hojo (Gordon Liu).

Chopstick translates them wrongly and lands in China with an unknowing Sidhu. They keep running into Sakhi (Deepika Padukone) who models cheesy ads for products like a learn-how-to-dance ankle gadget, or a bullet-proof umbrella that’s also a parachute (James Bond’s spy gadgets seem washed out, yes?). She’s there to pay tribute to her Chinese father and sister, she believes were killed. Strangely, she transforms into an alter ego, Kung Fu expert called Meow Meow who the police are after. All roads lead to dreaded villain Hojo who has a connect with both Sidhu and Sakhi. In getting the bad guy, we have lots of bends in the story with a normal type of narration.

Akshay Kumar getting back to pavilion with action-hero is over the top and comedy sense is a splendid show. But, he gets stripped out with an inadequate script. Technically, the film is impressive but too many turns and twists, make this film a bit of a knot, and rather tiresome in the second half. The recurring flashbacks with ear-splitting background music could have easily been avoided.

When it comes to the artists, Deepika Padukone on dual role steals the show, especially on the characterization of Meow-Meow and her action scenes in the film are simply stunning. Also Akshay is awesome with his idiotic character Sidhu, making it a descent one. Gordon Liu strikes with a mind blowing performance in the role of Hojo, villian of the movie. Roger Yuan, who plays Deepika’s father is just marvelous. Mithun Chakraborthy with his minimal role makes a good impression and Ranvir Shorey with his clichéd acting wins appreciations.

On the technical part, rich cinematography by Himman Dhamija (Heyy Babyy, Bluffmaster) brings each frame alive. Nikhil Advani is in form after the debacle of Salaam-E-Ishq. The archaic way of storytelling, using the voice-over to move to the next chapter, is dull. By the way, the team is all set to come back with a new story in a new country…a sequel is in waiting. The songs are all fun and wonderfully choreographed.

Some acts in the film are way too exaggerated to have an effect and are more like unintentional comedy bits. But the ending portion atop the Great Wall of China (one of the 7 Wonders of the World, as we know) is an unbelievable treat. This is the first time a film has shot on this historic site.

All in all, Chandni Chowk To China is nothing but an ordinary film with a timeworn script. The film is a must see one with superb performance by it's lead artists Akshay and Deepika. But the film would have been better if the director( writer also) had penned a substantial screenplay that could have got our attentions from getting scattered.

Villu : Review

Villu, the latest offering from Illaya thalapathy Vijay have released worldwide today. The film which is slated to be a mass entertainer as every other Vijay films will have a equal mix of comedy, action, songs, exotic locations and heavy sentiments, which all is expected to work with the audience. Villu features Nayan Thara as it's female lead and was directed by Prabhu Deva. It was the second offering from the team Prabhu Deva and Vijay after the mega hit Pokkiri. Let's check whether the film is good enough to become a hit.

The basic storyline is inspired by Abbas Mustan's Soldier, which tells the story of a son seeking revenge for the brutal and treacherous murder of his father by a group of villains. Villu is technically slick and moves at a rapid pace. It is the most stylish film from Vijay so far. What works in its favour is the star cast, packaging and look of the film.

Pugal (Vijay) is a happy-go-lucky man who is on a mission. He works hand-in-glove for a cop, Joseph (Manoj K Jayan), who is on the lookout for an international gang led by the dreaded JD (Prakash Raj) who deals with drugs and ammunition. Pugal goes to a village and meets Jhanvi (Nayanthara), daughter of JD, and falls in love with her. He smartly uses her as a tool to reach across to JD and his gang (Devaraj, Anand Raj, Sriman, Aditya) in Munich. He eliminates them one by one using tact and cunningness. The rest of the film is how he brings JD back to India and takes revenge for the murder of his dad, a patriotic army man.

According to the lead actor Vijay himself, the story has nothing new in it and is as old as the hills. But the director Prabhu Deva had made a fabulous job of making it refreshingly new by the style of narration. Prabhu Deva's signature style is stamped across every frame. He has crafted another mass entertainer, though it is not in the same league as his earlier Pokkiri.

There were some nice as well as some idiotic moments in the film. The comedy in the first half and six songs packaged beautifully are the biggest calling cards of the film. The main attraction of the film will be the on screen chemistry between Nayan Thara and Vijay. But the nice flow of the movie was totally disturbed by the presence of Vadivel in the film, especially the scenes that features him in Munich, which could have been surely avoided.

When it comes to the artists, Vijay once again have proved that he will remain for ever as a mass hero with his one man entertainment troupe. Also he looks sensational in the film and is an absolute delight to watch. Nayan Thara is earnest, sincere and fits the role nicely. As the main villian, Prakash Raj too have made justice to his role in the film. The only dissappointment was from the veteran actor Vadivel, who miserably failed to entertain the audience through this movie.

On the technical part, everyone inluding the director have done justice to their particular job. Top class camera work by Ravi Varman and extraordinary DI (Digital Imagery) by Bobby Grant are some major highlights in the technical part. Sunil's (of Hindi Ghajini fame) artwork looks authentic and stunning. Kola Bhaskar's editing is crisp and helps the film to be racy. Fefsi Vijayan's action scenes are superbly choreographed.

In the music department, the music from Devi Sri Prasad is only average with most of the songs resembling some old songs from future. But the songs have made it big with most of them being the chart busters. Prabhu Deva and his team of choreographers have provided picture-perfect peppy songs, lavishly picturised in exotic locations with superb camera movements.

All in all, Villu is a typical mass entertainer with all the typical Vijay ingredients. With a huge expectation from audience especially after the mega hit Pokkiri, the film have failed to make it big, so most probably will end it's run at the box office as an average earner. I will prefer everyone to watch this movie, if and only if you like typical Tamil masala films at it's extreme.

King : Review

Nagarjuna's latest movie King got released on the day of Christmas with record no: of prints for a Nagarjuna movie. This new Telugu movie King featuring Nagarjuna and Trisha in the lead roles was directed by Seenu Vytla. It was produced by D Siva Prasad Reddy and the music of the film was conducted by Devi Sri Prasad. This well packed film comes with lot of naughty lines and often risqué humour. The film is expected to do some good business since December is considered to be the lucky month for Nagarjuna.

Chandra Pratap Varma aka King (Nagarjuna) hails from a royal family and he takes over the legacy and riches after the death of his father Raja Varma (Sobhan Babu). The big league of the members in the family includes uncles and aunts. All of a sudden, a ravishing beauty Swapna (Mamta Mohandas) comes into the family, threatening to displace the King. Running parallel to the royal story, another thread is incorporated through the episode of Bottu Seenu (again played by Nagarjuna), who falls in love with a singer Sravani (Trisha), who in turn gives her heart to an IT brilliant Sridhar (Nagarjuna). What all this fuss? Does the hero enact triple roles by himself or are they different from each other? It forms the crux and suspense of the movie.

When it comes to the performance of leading artists, Nagarjuna dominates the entire film from the start to finish, frame after frame. Nag looks young and his glamour is matchless though he crossed 50. Nag's triple characterizations come as variety to the audiences and all the numbers are entertaining smeared with hilarious comedy. Trisha looks awesome in her character and made it a memorable one without exposing or overdoing. But the major let down was in the form of Mamta Mohandas. In this film she appears to be a major distraction to the audiences mood.

Other's in the film like Jayaprakash Reddy, Sayaji Shinde and Krishna Bhagwan have done justice to their characters and Sri Hari was superb as Painter Gnaneshwar, brother to Trisha. Once again Seenu Vytla's regular man Brahmanandam is awesome to watch. In this movie he plays a music director and was able to bring laughter to the theatres. Master Bharath is another plus point to the comedy thread in the film, doing the assistant to Brahmanandam.

Director Seenu Vytla has been able to pack the movie in the form of a good entertainer, but it seems the director is still in the hangover of his previous films. His comedy treatment sounded more clichéd and innovative thread of entertaining is glaringly missing. Screenplay of the movie is the major let down. The songs are nice to watch on the screen as they are brilliantly choreographed. Song which features eight heroines in it is a good one to watch but it seems to be a nuisance in the flow of the story. Photography is excellent though music by Devi Sri Prasad has the hangover of his earlier films, with nothing much to talk about.

All in all, Nagarjuna's much awaited King is just an above average flick with some nice comedy and colourful scenes. There is nothing new offered by this film. I would prefer eveyone to go and watch this movie, if you are ready to watch the repetition of some old movies with a new style.

Ghajani : Review

At last Ghajani, the latest offering from Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan hits the theatres today. Ghajini, the Tamil version, has been a massive hit and so was its dubbed Telugu version. Will the Hindi adaptation live up to the expectations? Everyone was waiting for an answer to it and finally the answer is here. Ghajini demonstrates how strong film-making can enhance and elevate an already solid concept. It's going to rock the nation from the very first day itself.

Ghajani is a powerful film, having a riveting story, which has been told with flourish by director A.R. Murugadoss. This revenge saga will simply sweep you off your feet from the starting itself. As usual it has a knockout performance by Aamir Khan prooving everyone that he is the best among the stars available today.

Ghajani belongs to the same old good versus evil fares, but it differs in the way of narration. The story has been told differently and most importantly, the story offers so many twists-n-turns that you just can't guess what would unfold next. The basic theme of the film is that Aamir Khan is suffering from acute short-term memory loss set off by the violent murder of his girlfriend Asin, and he is out there to find the culprit to take the revenge.

The story of the film is really superb and it is the major highlight of the movie too. Aamir's portrayal of a man suffering from short-term memory loss is awesome and really thrilling. This will be one of his career-best performance. Asin too was awesome, making her debut a much memorable one among the audience. Also others in the cast like Jiah Khan, as a medical student and Pradeep Rawat, the villain were good and played their part very well.

A R Murugadoss, the director of the movie really deserves a standing upload for his work. He made Ghajani a memorable, never-seen-before experience. He balances the light moments and the ones demanding intensity with expertise. The other guy to be noted is none other than A R Rahman himself. As usual his works for the movie was really mind blowing. Also Ravi Chandran's cinematography is stunning.
Let me tell you one thing that Ghajani is not at all Momento. There is only small similarities in both these, though the basic theme is the same. According to me, Ghajani is breathless, exciting story, heart breaking and exhilarating at the same time. I prefer everyone to watch this movie, atleast for once, because you won't see such films for more than once in a decade. Also the portions towards the climax have changed making it interesting for the south audience also.
All in all, Ghajani is commercial Hindi cinema at its best. The film will be surely a blockbuster, breaking almost all the records created by other films so far.

Lollipop : Review

Latest offering from Malayalam film industry, Lollipop that features almost all of the leading youngsters in the industry have released in about 80 centers today. The film was scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam and directed by hit maker Shafi. Lollipop features Prithviraj, Bhavana, Jayasurya, Kunchakko Boban and Roma in the leading roles. The film was produced under the banner ABS combines by Shafi, Benny P Nayarambalam and Anto Joseph.

The movie has been carrying good preview reports. This is yet another youngster movie from Shafi after the much accomplained hit Chocolate. But with the initial reports, the film have miserably failed to grow upto the expectations. Everyone will be wondering, how could a director like Shafi direct this movie and a script writer like Benny can write it, because the film is really boring in it's way. The film could have rated an average flick, but the unexpected twist in the climax have made the movie even worse. It was continuos booing in almost all theatres after that strange climax.

The movie has Prithviraj as Franco, who runs an automobile workshop at Fort Kochi. He shares a special bonding with his only sister Jennifer(Roma), who are more like friends .Franco and Jennifer have lost their parents at very younger stages of their life, and to avoid being left lonely at any further stage of their life, they have even decided to find their match in life, only after mutual approval.

Kunchakko Boban plays Aby, a junior Doctor of the hospital near Franko's workshop. Jayasurya is Francis, a mechanic at Franco's workshop. He was an expert in pick pocketing and fraudulent ways, till he met Franco. But now Francis, called as Panchy is a different man with all good maneuvers. Film features Bhavana as Rosebella franco's love interest. Since both of them, Rosebella and Jennifer are great rivals, the film features how Franco manages to make them friends in order to marry himself to Rosebella.

This film also features Rajan P Dev who plays Rosebella`s dad, Chandikunju, who runs a finance company. Sreekumar plays Kunchakko Boban's father, who was a former partner to Chandikunju is now an enemy to him. Others in the cast are Shafi's regular comedians like Salim Kumar, who plays Fr. Kuriakose, who is not just a priest but also a lawyer. Suraj plays Jabbar, a mechanic in Franco's workshop who is still ailing in the loss of his lover, who got married to his elder brother. Thus Lollipop is thus a celebration of brotherhood, friendship and love, told in the scripts of hit scriptwriter Benny P Nayarambalam.

On the basis of performance, all of them were excellent by themselves. The main reason for the film's drawback was it's untied script. The story of the film was really nice but the approach by the makers of the film towards it have really amazed me. Both Benny and Shafi were considered as hit makers since their films remains to be profit earners in terms of collections. But this time they failed miserably to make it a nice entertaining film.

Director Shafi as well as script writer Benny have let down everybody, though they were considered to be the reliable persons in the industry, according to the box office reports. In the technical part, cinematographer Azhagappan has done a descent job, especially with the song sequences in Banghok. Remaining all other parts too have done nice except the department of music which really let down the movie. The team of Alex Paul and Sarath Vayalar may have done some works but not in this film. Except one song 'Jeruselemile...' all other songs are really dud. Also these songs features some sort of resemblance with Alex's previous some combositions.

All in all, Lollipop definitely failed in some qaurters of making which indeed will cost the film very badly. I will prefer all of you to watch the movie if you are really on the way to kill your time. There is nothing new in this film so that i can say, you must watch it. I am feeling this film is a below average by it's way of making.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi : Review

The much awaited flick starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has released worldwide today. There have been a much expectation about the film. The main reason behind this sort of expectation was due to the magic that Adithya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan have provided earlier with their previous two films, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Mohabbatein. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released with a tag having the meaning that in every ordinary life there is an extra ordinary love story.

Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) - a simple, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, leading a humdrum life, when he meets his total opposite and finds love in the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious - Taani (Anushka Sharma) for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colours of rainbow all until unforeseen circumstances changes it all and brings them together. Sooner, its biggest dance show in Amritsar and Surinder coiffes himself as Raj what he calls 'Macho Chap'… He does it all to impress his girl Taani and what's next?

All the leading artists in this film have worked very well. Shah Rukh have done a nice job in his character presentation especially with the image make over. Debutant girl Anushka too have done a fair good job. Vinay Pathak was simply superb. Though their presence in the film was not really needed, all the leading ladies from Bollywood like Kajol, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, Lara Dutta and Bipasha Basu were simply mind blowing. They all appear in a song sequence.

Hats off to Aditya Chopra..... An awesome motif of delineating a touching story of romance... It's a journey filled with laughter, tears, joy, pain, music, dance and a lot of love. A journey that makes us believe that there is an extraordinary love story in every ordinary jodi.

There are some drawbacks too. The main drawback is that how come a woman fails to recognize her husband with a slight-make over. The characters of Surindar and Raj differ merely with thin moustache, hair style and costumes. Both the characters have same voice sans any modulations, and if so how could she identify her husband as Raj on the grand finale of the dance competition?

Ravi K Chandran's cinematography was superb, but the main highlight of the movie must be it's music that was scored by the duo Salim-Sulaiman. All the songs except 'Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte' were awesome. Even though that song features most of the leading actresses from industry it failed to impress miserably.

All in all, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is no Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. It's not Mohabbatein either. At best, it's an above average fare that may generate some curiosity initially. I prefer you to watch this movie once for sure.

Yuvvraaj : Review

Subhash Ghai, the 'Showman' himself is back with his latest flick Yuvvraaj. The film features Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan in the lead roles. The star-cast and superb music have guaranteed the audience’s curiosity in the film. Subhash Ghai is expecting a huge hit after his last super hit Taal, which was released about nine years back.

Salman Khan is playing Deven, a music lover who’s actually the scion of a very rich family. He was kicked out because he fought with his autistic brother Gyanesh (Anil Kapoor). Katrina Kaif is playing Anushka, the lady love of Salman, whose father is Boman Irani who prefers a successful son-in-law for his daughter. Deven learns of his father’s demise, and without an itch of remorse, flies over to London to reclaim his share in the property. The Will leaves the entire property to Gyanesh and that leaves Deven and the third brother Danny to plot their way into getting their share. Along the way, they reform and understand how brotherly love is above all materialistic things. If you’re yawning already, imagine enduring this moral science lesson through an entire film length.

Salman is not acting at all and delivering dialogues with his hands in his pockets. The only scene where he comes alive is in the second half where he’s begging his arch enemy to save his brother’s life. As a character, Deven is impossible to like. Anil Kapoor breathes life into the character of Gyanesh who’s a music-worshipper and a singing genius but has always been rebuffed by his family owing to his autism. Zayed Khan does very well as the spoilt brat used to a life of excessive luxuries. Katrina is wonderful, plays the cello convincingly, and looks ethereal. It’s Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s show all the way.

Anil Kapoor and Subhash Ghai are doing their seventh consecutive film together. Their first film together was Ram Lakshman. Subhash Ghai’s films can be depended on for soulful, memorable music but the delicately nuanced songs are lost in a melee of visual excesses. AR Rahman and Gulzar creates magic once again. Art Direction by Omung Kumar suffers from a severe Saawariya hangover and Shiamak Davar’s choreography is reminiscent of his work in Taal. Cinematography by Kabir Lal is alright.

All in all, Yuvvraaj would have been a sinking ship, but is somewhat salvaged by Anil Kapoor’s class act and Kaif’s agreeable screen presence. The film is watchable in some manner, but don't go with any expectations, then you may like the film. With previous week's releases gradually getting down on charts and no big releases awaited couple of weeks ahead, Subash Ghai can host a lavish party for the entire team as collections are sure to brim over producers' sacs.

Vaaranam Aayiram : Review

The much awaited flick starring Surya, Vaaranam Aayiram, directed by most popular director in the South Industry, Gautham Vasudev Menon has atlast got released all over the world. The film is clearly meant for niche audiences, and not for mass viewing. It is a tribute to the director's dad, who passed away last year.

The film is actually meant to show the deep bonding between a loving and devoted father and his son who is trying to discover himself. This new flick by Menon, which is inspired from his own story had a great first half, but post Interval, it lags.

The movie opens with an army officer Surya receiving the news of his dad’s death while on a mission. Flashback- Right from his birth, for Surya (Surya) his dad Krishnan (Surya), a middle-class central government employee is more of a friend and a role model than a disciplinarian father. He loves his dad more than his mom Malini (Simran) and sister Shriya, and they live a happy life. Surya is influenced by his dad's stories of how he romanced his mother and won her. Later this inspires Surya in his life, and then what happens is the story of the film.

Technically the film is state of art. Rajeevan's art work to present the sets of 60's were simply awesome, and Ratnavel's camera is eye-catching as it pans California, Dehradun, Delhi, Rameswaram and other locations and gives the film richness.

The real star of the film is Surya himself, who is outstanding in a dual role as father and son. Surya's make-up, his six pack look and old man get-up is very good. The female star cast is simply too good, with each of the three leading ladies making it big by their own.
Another major attraction of this film is the department of music. The music of Harris Jayaraj is first rate and tangy, with meaningful lyrics of Thamarai. This is Harris- Gautham's last film together and the combo is simply terrific.

Only Gautham, who is a romantic by nature can make such a great romantic scenes to work with the audience. Gautham simply wrings you dry with his overplay of emotions in the father-son bonding. The climax is heart wrenching and heartwarming as Surya's breakdown and tears roll down his cheek which looks real.

The best part of the film is the first half, especially the wispy romance between Surya and Sameera Reddy, with the scene where Surya falls for her in the train is hilarious and romantic. On the downside, the film is excruciatingly slow, and in the second half plods as the director has no story to say.

The Delhi kidnapping scenes and the military operations are done purposefully to bring out the heroism in the hero, which was really irritating in some sense. After watching the movie, one may think whether there is not any age limit to join the army also it is some what really wondering that how could an ordinary middle class, Tamil family speak so fluently in English?

All in all, one should need real patience to watch this movie because it is an overdose of emotions. No one should expect fire works from this Gautham-Surya flick, since their last venture ( Khaaka Khaaka) was a real mass thriller. If you prepare yourself to watch a movie having good mix of emotions, then you won't be dissappointed.

Simply, the film is optimistic, fresh and emotionally honest with a great music work by Harris Jayraaj and superb performance of Surya. I prefer you to watch the movie, only if you loves class acts otherwise just gets away from it.

Twenty 20 : Review

After a very long expectations and waiting, AMMA's Twenty 20 got into the theatres last day. It has taken the biggest ever opening in the history of Malayalam films. It has collected a record Rs 1.74 crore from 115 screens across Kerala, with all of them doing four shows in the releasing day. The best thing that happened in relation to the movie is that the word-of-mouth on the film is very good. The film is clearly all set to be the highest grossing film in the history of Malayalam films, in the coming weeks.

Director Joshy, writers Sibi.K.Thomas and Udayakrishnan, and above all producer Dileep has delivered a stylish, racy and never a dull moment super entertainer with their Twenty 20. The film has a great star cast with two superstars and five other important stars along with 55 other popular faces in Malayalam films. But the good news is that Mammootty and Mohanlal have got equal footage, importance and both are simply outstanding in their respective roles.

What has made the film work big time is the packaging, presentation and the script flow, the right gags, humour and the sudden twists that make it an edge of the seat thriller with a stunning climax. Both the Superstars (Mammootty and Mohanlal) carry the film to its winning post on the strength of their characterization, style and knockout performances. Suresh Gopi steals the show in his own way, while producer Dileep who has the shortest role in the film brings out his impeccable comic timing.

The film weaves a spell on the viewer with some electrifying scenes, which gets the maximum claps in the theatre. The Mammootty introduction scene is one among them. Another moment is just before interval, when Mammootty saves Mohanlal in the court where he is accused of murder, and as he walks out the transformation from a meek man to a mighty man takes place, as he takes his Mundu and folds it up (Narasimamham style), twirls his moustache, puts on his Rayban glasses and delivers punchlines to his friends and has an eyeball to eyeball confrontation with Mammootty, with which the theatre gets exploded. Suresh Gopi’s shootout scene in the climax and his punchline dialogue and body movement are excellent.

The first half an hour of the movie is somewhat boring with some irritating old comedies from some reputed comedians of Malayalam film Industry. With the entrance of Mammootty by then helped the movie to get somewhat interesting, but by the entrance of Mohanlal, the film really gets into it's business. There after, all (Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi) these mighty stars starts to fight against each other, which makes the film much more interesting.

In the Technical part, there are only three songs by Suresh Peters which all can be rated as only average by it's nature. The pick of the songs is the Mauritius song O’ Priye.., lensed beautifully, by cameraman P. Sukumar. Stunt Shiva had done some awesome action scenes, especially that Mammootty- Mohanlal fight scene in the flat, which made audience thrilled. Ranjan Abraham’s crisp editing was another plus point for the film.

All in all, Joshiy and his crew, especially the script writers (Sibi.K.Thomas and Udayakrishnan) have done a better job here in this film. They have succeeded in making Twenty 20 a really watchable racy entertainer. My verdict to this film is that ' This film is definitely watchable, with lot of fire works in it.'
