Dhanush's new film Aadukalam

Superstar Rajni kant's son-in-law as well as upcoming Tamil Superstar Dhanush is on a happy mood now with his latest release Padikkathavan doing great work at the box office. The film is surely going to be numero uno among the films that got released for this Ponkal season in Kollywood. The film have clearly surpassed Illayathalapathy Vijay's Villu, that too is in the theatres carrying mixed reviews. Padikkathavan is surely Dhanush's Hat trick hit at the box office, after the hits like Polladhavan and Yaaredi Nee Mohini.

Dhanush have become one of the hot property at the box office, with having back to back hits to his name. Sun Pictures are clearly aiming to sort him out as well as his new image. After their recent release Padikkathavan, Sun group have acquired the yet to be started film of Dhanush and are also planning to involve in the marketing as well as the distribution of the film. This yet to be start film of Dhanush have been titled as Aadukalam. With this new film, Dhanush is joining once again with his lucky mentor Vetri Maaran (director of Polladhavan) and for the first time with the actress Trisha.

This new film, will be a riveting storyline based on a real life incident that happened decades ago in Madurai. Since Madurai plays such a pivotal role in the film that the director Vetri Maaran has started an office in the 'Temple City' to absorb the essence of the place to the fullest. Such a move is the first of its kind in the history of Tamil Cinema. Dhanush will be playing a Madurai youth and will appear in a never seen before appearance. His mastery over the Madurai dialect is mighty important for the film and the hard working actor is keen to get it right. Trisha will be playing an Anglo Indian girl who falls in love with Dhanush. Problems faced by this loving pair in terms of different caste will form the major part of the film.

After the hit film Polladhavan, expectations for this new film from Dhanush - Vetri Maaran team is riding high. Everyone is expecting this new film to be a different one, just like the director's previous film. Director Vetri Maaran has proved everyone with his directorial debut itself that his style of narration will be much powerful and will form the core of the film.

Villu v/s Padikkathavan

Illaya thalapathy Vijay's Villu as well as Superstar Rajni Kant's son-in-law Dhanush's Padikkathavan have got released for this year's Ponkal season. Both the films are typical mass masala entertainers in order to suit the Tamil audiences and both the films are carrying very average reviews with it. Let's look who will the race?

According to the fans strength as well as huge popularity, Vijay will simply surpass Dhanush in the Tamil film industry. Villu, a racy entertainer made by Prabhu Deva had the beauty queen, Nayan Thara in the female lead whereas in Padikkathavan, it's none other than Tamanna in the female lead. While Dhanush appears to have his priorities right and finds himself hoping for a hat trick of hits ( after Yaradi Nee Mohini and Polladhavan) ,Vijay has to come out of the shell he has got himself into, in order to get back to his winning ways.

Let's look back, Vijay's previous release was the infamous Kuruvi while Dhanush's Yaradi Nee Mohini which released around the same time went on to become a huge blockbuster. Let's rewind a little further when Vijay's Azhagiya Tamil Magan released. That was the period Dhanush's Polladhavan also released. Polladhavan went on to become a blockbuster while Azhagiya Tamil Magan was a damp squib.

Padikkathavan is a film owned by Sun Group and is being promoted nicely by the producers and as a result they were able to create a curiosity in every viewers mind. This curiosity is meant to be a helping factor to the movie, which is carrying only an average review. On the other hand, Vijay's Villu have opened to a record collections but might find it hard to sustain its brilliant opening especially because mixed views have started pouring in about the film.

Both Villu and Padikkathavan are based on the same genre of typical mass entertainers with nothing new in it. Since Vijay is a mighty force to reckon with in Tamil Cinema, his new release Villu might go on for a hundred days but will fail to keep the viewer's happy just like his previous venture Kuruvi. Padikkathavan too is slated for a descent run at the box office. Let's wait and see, out of these two which film is going to win the race in the final lap?
