Mammootty's new film Ganapathi

It was earlier reported that Megastar Mammootty will act in the new movie by Akku Akbar, which will be scripted by Reji Nair. That film was titled as Thappana and was one of the well expected film by the Malayalam film lovers. Unfortunately that film won't work since the director was not happy with the script.

The latest to hear is that the same script by Reji Nair will be directed by the family director, V M Vinu with Mammootty in the main lead. This new film is titled as Ganapathi, and Mammootty will be playing the role of a mahout in this new film. Mammootty is well impressed with the script that he showed interest in starting the film as early as possible.

The rest of the cast for this film is yet to be finalized and this new Malayalam film will be produced by Kala Nair, under the banner of Omkar Nedumbulli Production.

Mammootty to start his Christmas release with Renji Panicker

The latest news to hear about our Megastar Mammootty is that he will do a film with the hit director Renji Panicker in this year itself. This new Malayalam film, titled as Kaduvakkunnil Kuruvachan, is said to be a revenge drama, just like Renji Panicker's old classic film, Lelam.

This film will have Mammootty playing the role of a Christian planter. It is to be noted that this is for the second time they are joining together after Renji Panicker becomes an independent director. Their previous venture was Roudram, which was an average grosser at the box office.

Apart from Mammootty, the other cast and crew members for this new film are yet to be finalized. Shooting for this film will kick start from the month of August and this will be the Megastar's Christmas release of this year.

Drona as Mammootty's first release of this year

Megastar Mammootty's first release of the year will be most probably the latest film Drona by the action film director, Shaji Kailas. This new film has now completed it's shooting and it have entered into it's post production works. Currently, the editing works of the film are going on.

The makers of the film are now all set to wrap up the film as soon as possible. After the dubbing, the re-recording works of the film have to be started. This new Mammootty starrer, which is said to be a supernatural thriller was scripted by A K Sajan.

This new film features Kaniha and Navya Nair as the heroines and this much expected film of the year also features Thilakan, Bala, Irshad, Vijaya Kumar and Suraj Venjarammoodu in it's star cast. Sensation of this generation, Reema Kallingal too plays a notable guest appearance in this film.

This new Mammootty film is expected to grace around 100 theatres by the very next month itself..

Mammootty and Prithviraj joining for Pokkiri Raja

The much awaited film Pokkiri Raja, featuring Megastar Mammootty and younger Superstar Prithviraj in the lead has now been started. Pooja of the film was held last day, which was attented by the Megastar himself. This film will start it's shooting by this month itself and will be the Vishu release of both the stars.

This new film will be directed by debutant Vaishakh Abraham and the script of the film was handled by SIbi K Thomas and Udaya Krishna. The other notable thing with this film is that it will introduce Shirya Saran into Malayalam for the first time as the heroine of Mammootty. This film will be produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner of Mulakupadam release.

This is for the second time that Mammootty and Prithviraj are joining together for a film, since both have acted together in the film One Way Ticket by Bibin Prabhakar. Earlier, the role to be played by Prithviraj was offered to Narain but due to his previously committed projects, he had to back out from this film.

This new film is expected to become a huge hit mainly due to it's interesting star cast. Let's wait and see whether the combination of these hugely talented artists make this film a memorable one..

Pazhassi Raja is roaring all over Kerala

Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja is still continuing with its surprise collections, even after a month of its release in Kerala. The movie has already accumulated a ten crores from its 26 day run, which is the highest ever collection for a movie in Malayalam in these number of days. In the capital city itself it has crossed a 75 lakhs in 26 days.

Meanwhile, the Tamil version of the movie will get released by the 20th of this month. The makers are planning to go for a release with 100 prints. With Tamil star Sarath Kumar in the company of Mega star Mammootty, who is a known star in Kollywood, Pazhassi Raja is expected to make decent collections. Gokulam Films will have the Telugu version of the movie released by the mid of December.

Mammootty in a demi god image for Drona

Megastar Mammootty is back again with the Stylish film maker of the Malayalam film industry Shaji Kailas for yet another action film. Shaji Kailas is famous for making films which presents it's main protagonist in a super human image. Shaji Kailas has earlier joined hand with the megastar for the hit films like The Truth, The King and Vallyettan.

This new action oriented film, which is titled as Drona will feature Mammootty as a Nostradamus like character Pattazhi Madhavan Namboodiri alias Drona(not an ordinary man but a demi god image) and the script of the movie will be handled by A K Sajan. This new film will have Swetha Vijay and Kanika playing the role of the lead heroines and the shooting for this much hyped film have already been started.

Earlier, both Shaji Kailas and A K Sajan were busy with their first Prithviraj project titled as Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram, but the film got stalled with some financial problems and as a result both decided to go ahead with this Mammootty starrer. They are planning to restart the shoot for that film once they finish this Mammootty starrer.

This new film, Drona featuring Megastar Mammootty in the lead will be produced by Aroma movies and is all set to release in the month of March, 2010.

Mammootty and Dileep to act together

It's now hearing that Superstar Mammootty and Popular hero Dileep are going to act together for a new Malayalam movie to be directed by the hit maker Anwar Rasheed. Both these actors are joining together after a gap of about 8 years now. They were last seen in the movie Rakshasa Rajavu, which was an Onam release of 2001 and unfortunately the film was a total wash out at the box office.

This new untitled film from Anwar Rasheed will feature both the actors as brothers. Dileep will play the younger brother to Mammootty in this movie, whose scripts are nearing completion. After the Superhit Annan Thampi with Mammootty, director Anwar Rasheed was all set to do a Mohanlal starrer with a script from Sachi-Sethu (Chocolate fame). Since the script writers Sachi-Sethu are busy with their new film Robinhood with Prithviraj, Anwar went ahead with this new Mammootty and Dileep starrer.

This new film will be director Anwar Rasheed's 4th film in all and third one with Superstar Mammootty. His previous two Mammootty starrer's Rajamanikyam and Annan Thampi, were Superhits at the box office and the same result is being expected from this new untitled film from the duo.

Mammootty's new film Pramaani

As per the latest reports Mammootty, one among the two Superstars of Malayalam film industry will now act in the fourth directorial venture of script writer turned director B Unnikrishnan. This is for the first time that B Unnikrishnan and Mammootty are joining together for a movie, and this new project featuring both of them has been titled as Pramaani.

This new film will feature Mammootty as a corrupt Panchayath president Raghavapanikkar, who is a great arrogant by his nature. The film to be completed in a single schedule also features Suraaj Venjaaramodu, Jagathy, Nedumudi and Salimkumar. This new film, which is all set to start it's shooting by the end of this year is expected to reach the theatres by March, 2010.

B Unnikrishnan is conidered to be a safe director since all his previous 3 films did safe business at the box office. His first and third films, Smart City and IG with Suresh Gopi did average business whereas his second film with Superstar Mohanlal, Maadambi was a Superhit. Let's hope his fourth film with Superstar Mammootty to get into the safer side.

Mammootty's new film with Shafi

Superstar Mammootty is a busy man in the Malayalam film industry. Each week, a new project featuring him in the lead is being announced and in this week it's a new film titled as Chattambinaadu. This new film, which is all set to start by the end of September will be produced by Mammootty's own distribution house Playhouse.

This new film, which is said to be a comedy based action movie will be directed by Shafi and scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. This is the third movie between director Shafi and the lead actor Mammootty after the hit films, Mayavi and Thommanum Makkalum. This new film will feature three heroines for Mammootty in it.

This new film will feature Mukesh in an equally important role to that of Mammootty. Mammootty will be presented as Veerendra Mallaya, a Karnataka based estate owner. He will speak a Kannada based new accent in this movie, which will be one of the highlights of the movie. Let's wait for the more detailed news regarding the film.

Daddy Cool for July 30

Superstar Mammootty will have another release in this month itself. Ee Pattanathil Bhootham, latest release of Mammootty is doing average business at the releasing stations, while his new film Daddy Cool is now all set to release for this July 30th. This new Malayalam film directed by debutant Ashik Abu was produced by production manager Alvin Antony and Bose Kurian under the banner of Aninya Films and is distributed by Marakkar films.

This new Mammootty starrer is said to be another commercial children film from the star in which Mammootty will appear himself as a laidback police officer Antony Simon, who is very fond of his six year old son and likes to play cricket and laze around with him than attending office. Richa Pallod will appear in this film as Mammootty's heroine.

This cool, humorous and thrilling film will also feature others in the cast like Vijayraghavan, Baburaj, and Biju Menon. Eventhough there is only a gap of three weeks between Ee Pattanathil Bhootham and Daddy Cool, later will get a clean three weeks run before Ramzan month, which starts on August 21.

Mammootty v/s Mohanlal

Malayalam film industry is again going to witness the grand clash between two living legends of the industry, Mohanlal and Mammootty. The latest news is that Mammootty's much awaited comedy film, Pattanathil Bhootham and Mohanlal's adventurous movie Bhramaram are all set to release on the same day, ie June 25, 2009.

Actually, Mammootty's Pattanathil Bhootham was scheduled to be released on May 1, but subsequently get postponed as the graphic work was taking time. Now the film is all set to make the biggest ever wide release by a Malayalam movie, in around 111 screens all across Kerala. Meanwhile, Mohanlal's Bhramaram too will release on the same day causing a serious concern to the makers of the Mammootty starrer.

It should be noted that whenever both these actors have clashed at the box office, one of them have to suffer seriousily since both the films won't get appreciated by the viewers. Last time they competed each other was when Mammootty's Mayabazaar and Mohanlal's Kurukshetra were released, out of which Kurukshetra emerged as the winner.

Now it's hearing that the trade analysts have asked Mohanlal’s distribution concern Max Lab (Distributor's of Bhramaram) to postpone the release of the film to July 2, as they do not want an unnecessary clash between the titans of the industry. Let's see whether both these films will get into the theatres on the same day itself.

Mammootty's upcoming releases

Superstar Mammootty's much hyped movie, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham will grace the theatres by the date of June 25. This comical entertainer directed by Johny Antony will feature Mammootty in a dual role, as a bike jumper in a circus camp and as a friendly ghost. Kavya Madhavan is playing the lady lead as Mammootty's heroine for the very first time in her career. This film will take the widest ever release for a Malayalam film by releasing it in around 111 screens.

Superstar Mammootty's next film to get released is debutant Ashiq Abu's Daddy Cool. Earlier this film was slated for a July release but now it's hearing that this film will grace the theatres only by August 15, as an Independence Day release. This new film will feature Mammootty as a CBI officer who loves his son more than anything else. The movie featuring Richa Palod as the heroine has recently completed it's shooting and it's post production work's are going on.

Two more Mammootty films ( Kuttyshranku and Vande Matharam ) are already completed and waiting for a proper release. Most probably, Kuttyshranku will be Mammootty's Onam release and his Vande Matharam too will grace the theatres by the same time. Mammootty will now move on to complete his upcoming projects like Gireesh's Handsome, Jayaraj's Loudspeaker and Renjith's Palery Maanikyam.

Superstar Mammootty have signed yet another project in Malayalam film industry. This new untitled project will be Mammootty's one of the prestigious project for the first half of 2010. The most interesting thing about this new film is that this film will be directed by actor Jagadeesh.

Actor Jagadeesh, who was a successful script writer in the eighties is once again handling the script for this film too. As per the reports, the initial works of this new untitled film is going on at a brisk pace. This untitled project is to be produced by Ajayachandran Nair.

Mollywood looking for a change in approach

Malayalam film industry is facing a serious trouble due to the lack of any newcomers. This industry is still depending on the veteran's in almost all the fieids. The major concern lies in the field of acting where two of the legends, Mammootty and Mohanlal, who are about 50 now are still ruling without any challenge. Mollywood should now seriously look for some freshly talented guys for the good future of the industry.

The Malayalam film industry is also suffering with the lack of new ideas or concepts in the filmy department. So the accomplished script writer turned director Renjith is now all set to apply some different themes or techniques into film production. First of all, he will start to do a new film based on a famous book written in the past and he is hoping that this will create a new trend in the film making in Mollywood.

The second step is rather a good one, Renjith will produce a new film under his own banner Capitol theatres that will have ten films around the length 10-12 minutes directed by ten different directors. The ten different directors will be Lal Jose, Shaji Kailaas, B Unnikrishnan, M Padmakumar, Shyama Prasad, Revathy, Udhay Ananthan, Anjali Menon, Anwar Rasheed and debutante Shankar Ramakrishanan.

This new film will follow the pattern of last year's Bollywood film, Dus kahaaniyaam, that featured ten different stories in one film. But according to the makers, this new untitled film will be based on a common theme of travel and will be linked in some manners. The other notable thing in relation with the film is that Superstar Mammootty have agreed to be a part of the film.

Mammootty in a debutant's movie

Superstar Mammootty will be playing the lead role in the debut venture of Sheikh, who had been a long time associate of hit making director Shaji Kailas. Though no details are officially out, it's learnt that the film will be on the lines of the Ram Gopal Varma flick Sarkar, which itself could be seen as a desi version of Godfather.

Reports say that Sheikh has already narrated the story to Mammootty, who is very much impressed by the story as well as the treatment. It's also heard that Sheikh has plans to make the film as a bilingual, in Malayalam as well as Tamil. Shooting for the film is likely to commence in the second half of 2009 itself.

Mammootty out from Vishu race

Superstar Mammootty is not going to have a release for this year's Vishu season. This is going to happen for the first time in the history of Malayalam film industry ever since Mammootty was crowned as the Superstar of Malayalam. Actually around 4 films featuring Mammootty in the lead were to be finished by the season but now it's hearing that none of the film will make it to the theatres.

First of all, it was Mammootty's big budget billingual movie Vande Matharam, which was slated for a release on April 10. The film that takes long time in production is now complete but the producer of the film is delaying the release, as some areas are yet to be sold. Other film that was scheduled for a release on April 14 was Mammootty's magnum opus Pazhassi Raja. This film too will not make a release for this year's Vishu season mainly due to the delay in dubbing since it will take time as the film is being made in five languages.

Other two films that too were in the race for the Mammootty's Vishu films are Johny Antony directed Pattanathil Bhootham and Shaji N Karun directed Kutty Shranku. The former one was actually scheduled for a release on May 1st, but now it's hearing that since the film requires lot's of graphic works and special effects, it may be postponed. Latter one in the list is ready for release, but the internationally reputed director, Shaji N Karun is trying to show it first at 2009 Cannes film festival.

So, it is sad to tell you that for this year's Vishu season there will not be any Mammootty films to entertain his fans as well as the ordinary viewers.

The major question that i like to put forward is that by the end of these two legendary actor's splendid career who else is there to push forward the Malayalam film industry. This question is found to be the major crisis of Malayalam film industry now a days. Every Malayalam film viewers loves, respects and admires these two actors and no one can question it, but at the same time they have to encourage the youngsters in the industry too.

Consider our neighbouring Tamil film industry, similar to Mollywood they too have two legends in Rajni Kant and Kamal Haasan. Each and every Tamil film lover admires them but at the same time they are willing to welcome the younger generation actors like Vijay, Vikram, Ajith, Surya etc. They even went ahead by accepting the third generation actors like Dhanush, Arya, Simbu, Vishal etc. This should be a learning fact for Malayalee audiences.

In Mollywood, nobody is ready to accept fresh new generation actors and the viewers even tries to discourage them by responding warmly to their films. Everyone should know one thing that once Mammootty and Mohanlal will have to move on and these young guns like Prithviraj, Kunchakko Boban, Jayasurya, Indrajith etc will have to take the charge, so let's help them to make a platform for themselves to hold the Malayalam film industry strongly.

Mammootty's Pattanathil Bhootham

Superstar Mammootty is currently busy with the shooting of his new film Pattanathil Bhootham. This new film is considered to be a fun movie, a total entertainer for the entire family especially the kids. Johny Antony is the director of the movie and Mammootty is acting in his film for the second time after the SuperHit Thurupugulan. The script of the movie was written by the most wanted script writers of Malayalam film industry, Sibi.K Thomas and Udaya Krishnan. This will be their next major release after the MegaBlockbuster Twenty 20.

Kavya Madhavan is palying the lady lead in this film. This is for the first time that she is being casted as the heroine of Mammootty. Others in the cast line are Innocent, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, Rajan.P Dev, Bheeman Reghu, Spadikkam George, Bindu Panikkar and Unda Pakru. Cinematography will be handled by Azhagappan whereas music will be handled by debutant Shaan Rahman, who is famous with his hit albums. This new film Pattanathil Bhootham is slated for a release on May 1st.

Sibi Malayil back with two Superstar projects

Sibi Malayil is considered to be one of the most talented director in Malayalam film industry. He had made several memorable films in Malayalam. When his recent film Flash starring Superstar Mohanlal bombed at the box office, everyone thought that it will be the end of his splendid career but with the good reviews that his Kalabhavan Mani starrer Aayirathil Oruvan has fetched, the talented director is now back in business.

Even though his new film Aayirathil Oruvan, which was resting in the cans for a long time was not able to give him a hit, it offers him a new life in the industry. Now the director seems to be sorrounded with a number of projects. As per the current reports, Sibi Malayil will immediately start his new film with Superstar Mohanlal in the lead. The script of the movie will be handled by one of his earlier partner Lohithadas.

The team of Sibi Malayil, Lohithadas and Mohanlal have given several blockbusters for Malayalam cinema in the 1980's and 90's. This film too is expected to be such a one and everyone in the inside the industry as well as outside are eagerly waiting for this project to happen. Other important news in relation to the director is that after completing his Mohanlal project, Sibi will start working for his Mammootty starrer.

This is for the eighth time that Sibi Malayil and Mammootty are joining together for a movie. After the film Parampara, it's now happening and the script of this new film will be handled by the latest sensational script writer of Mollywood, K Gireesh Kumar ( Veruthe Oru Bharya fame). Let's hope, with these two Superstar projects talented director Sibi Malayil may able to strike gold at the box office.

Mammootty with James Albert and Shafi

Yet another project has now been announced in the Malayalam film industry with the Superstar Mammootty in the lead of it. This new project will be Mammootty's one of the earlier projects for the year 2010. This new project will be directed by the hit maker Shafi and will be produced by Madhavan Nair under the banner of Murali films. The script of the film will be handled by James Albert.

Shafi was considered to be a hit maker, just before the release of his latest film Lollipop because all his previous films except Lollipop were hits. His latest film Lollipop was not able to do good running at the box office. Shafi have earlier directed Mammootty for two films, Thommanum Makkalum and Mayavi, both were Super hits. Now the director is all set to make the count three out of three.

On the other side, script writer James Albert have scripted for just only two films, Classmates and Cycle, both were hugely applauded by the Malayalee viewers. Now he is all set to script a movie that will feature a Superstar for the first time in it. Mammootty will be eagerly waiting for this film to start since the performance of his recent releases were not upto the mark and now he have to score.
