Shriya's plan for 2009

Shriya Saran, one of the most noted actress in South especially in Kollywood is all set to make up to the number one position among the actresses in Tamil film industry by the end of 2009. She went on to become a notable star after the stupendous hit Sivaji, in 2007 where she acted alongside Superstar Rajni Kant. But after that huge hit, she headed staight to Bollywood to try her luck there but failed to impress the Hindi audience. Her debut Hollywood film too was not well appreciated. So she decided to stick along with the Tamil film industry.

Shriya didn't have a single release in Tamil for the year 2008. But she will have multiple projects for the year 2009 in Tamil. Her first film will be Jaggubhai, which will make it's release in February 2009. In Jaggubhai, she acts as Sarath Kumar's daughter and the story revolves around her. It was directed by commercially the most successful director in Kollywood, K S Ravikumar.

Shriya's second release of the year is Vikram starrer Kanthasamy, directed by Susi Ganeshan. It will make a release in May 2009. The film will feature Vikram as a super hero and the major the highlight of the movie is having Shriya in a bathtub. Her third film is Thoranai with Vishal, which is slated for a release in June. Her fourth film is Arya with her lucky co star Dhanush, which is slated for a release in July will be directed by Jawahar. The film which is a remake of Allu Arjun starrer Telugu film Arya is considered to be a musical entertainer. Her last film of the year will be Singam with Surya, which is to be directed by Hari. Singam is now planned as a Diwali release.

With the list of films that she have signed for the year of 2009, one thing is clear that she is eagerly looking for that number one position in Tamil. Her strategy for that is to be seen in viable projects with saleable hero's. Let's wish all the best for Shriya to achieve her dream in this year itself.

'Kandasamy' to reach by summer 2009

Kanthasamy, is the upcoming movie from Tamil actor Vikram. Vikram is considered as a talented actor in Tamil film industry after the 'Ulaganayakan' Kamal Haasan himself. He has been shooting for this film for last one and a half years. Officially, it is heard now that Kanthasamy will reach the theatres only by the mid summer in 2009. This Superhero movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. Shriya Saran is the heroine of the movie.

Vikram got to fame by his heart breaking performances in films like Sethu, Dil, Dhool, Gemini etc and he got famous nationally or internationally for the performance of him in Anyan. The film Anyan that got released about 4 years back have made him a big star, and that film was directed by Shanker. Unfortunately, both his films (Maja with Asin and Bheema with Trisha) that got released after that failed miserably at the box office.

You all will be still remembering that the film was launched with a lot of fanfare including a trailer more than a year back. At that time, the crew behind the film said the film will release on April 14, 2008, then it became Diwali, still no sign of the film. The shoot of the film has been going on for a year.

Director Susi Ganeshan said in a recent press meet that the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film and now its post production work as a lot of special effects are involved. He followed his statement like this that the post production work is going on in full swing. All that remains is a flashback scene and a song that will be shot in Italy.

Audio launch of the movie was done in last January by the music director of the film, Devi Sri Prasad himself. Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer. Most probably it will be the next big thing in Kollywood for sure.

All the best for Vikram and his crew for this film. Let it be a trend setter.
