Kamal Hassan replaced by Vikram

The latest news to hear about one of the much anticipated films of the year 19th Step, which is a film that is going to be made in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English languages is that Ulaka Nayakan Kamal Hassan has backed out from the project and now the makers of the film are all set to cast the Chiyaan Vikram on for that role.

This new film, which is going to be produced by Walt Disney will be directed by Bharatbala and scripted by M T Vasudevan Nair. This film will feature one of the top actress in India, Asin and Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asano in the lead. Kamal Hassan was supposed to play a martial arts guru to Asin, but later opted out of the project as he wanted his role to have a few changes, which wasn't acceptable to the director.

One of the other major highlights of the movie is that the music for this periodic film will be composed by none other than A R Rahman. Kamal Hassan's role in this movie was small but a powerful one, which will now be handled by the most experimental actor after Kamal, Vikram. Vikram will join the project after completing his latest film Raavana with Mani Ratnam.

Kanthasamy confirmed for July 10th

Kanthasamy, is the upcoming movie from Tamil actor Vikram. Vikram is considered as a talented actor in Tamil film industry after the Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan himself. He has been shooting for this film for last two years. Officially, it is heard now that Kanthasamy will reach the theatres by July 10. This Superhero movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. Shriya Saran is the heroine of the movie.

Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer. Vikram got to fame by his heartbreaking performances in films like Sethu, Dil, Dhool, Gemini, Annyan and Pithamagan but now he is in such a situation that he badly needs a hit since his last two outings Majaa and Bheema were total wash out at the box office.

You all will be still remembering that the film was launched with a lot of fanfare including a trailer more than two years back. According to the makers, the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film. Now the film that was completed in a whooping budget of 70 crores, will finally reach the theatres by 10th of July. In kerala, the movie distributed by Thameens, will grace 70 theaters on the same day.

Kandasamy with a record price

Tamil star Vikram's latest upcoming release will be his much awaited big budget film Kandasamy. It was about one year back that the trailor of the film was first shown. Meanwhile, the releasing dates of the film got shifted for number of times. Now, it is confirmed that Vikram's Kandasamy will hit the theatres either by April last week or by May first week. The releasing date will be fixed only after considering the dates of Parliament election, that is likely to happen in April.

Even before the film gets released, Kandasamy have made a great step ahead. The theatrical rights of the film for the Chennai city only got sold for a record Rs 4.01 crore. It is the biggest ever deal done for Chennai city rights in the last one year. The rights of the film was acquired by Abirami Ramanathan from producer Kalaipuli.S Thanu. It is the same person who have acquired the rights of Superstar Rajni Kant starrer Shivaji for an existing record price of Rs 6 crore.

Kandasamy is expected to be an entertainment extravaganza, and definitely the big summer release. The film which was directed by Susi Ganeshan have Shriya Saran as the main lady lead. The film have completed it's entire shooting and is currently under it's post production works.

A film that features Vikram in the lead, who is not yet considered as a crowd puller by himself, has been sold for such a big sum of money states that now it is going to be a new era for the Tamil film distribution rights.

'Kandasamy' to reach by summer 2009

Kanthasamy, is the upcoming movie from Tamil actor Vikram. Vikram is considered as a talented actor in Tamil film industry after the 'Ulaganayakan' Kamal Haasan himself. He has been shooting for this film for last one and a half years. Officially, it is heard now that Kanthasamy will reach the theatres only by the mid summer in 2009. This Superhero movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. Shriya Saran is the heroine of the movie.

Vikram got to fame by his heart breaking performances in films like Sethu, Dil, Dhool, Gemini etc and he got famous nationally or internationally for the performance of him in Anyan. The film Anyan that got released about 4 years back have made him a big star, and that film was directed by Shanker. Unfortunately, both his films (Maja with Asin and Bheema with Trisha) that got released after that failed miserably at the box office.

You all will be still remembering that the film was launched with a lot of fanfare including a trailer more than a year back. At that time, the crew behind the film said the film will release on April 14, 2008, then it became Diwali, still no sign of the film. The shoot of the film has been going on for a year.

Director Susi Ganeshan said in a recent press meet that the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film and now its post production work as a lot of special effects are involved. He followed his statement like this that the post production work is going on in full swing. All that remains is a flashback scene and a song that will be shot in Italy.

Audio launch of the movie was done in last January by the music director of the film, Devi Sri Prasad himself. Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer. Most probably it will be the next big thing in Kollywood for sure.

Priyamani as 'Surpanagai'..........

Mani Ratnam's ambitious bilingual project having Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Southern super star Vikram in the lead roles is fastly progressing it's shooting. Titled as 'Ravana' in Bollywood will have Abhishek and Aiswarya playing the lead roles, and Vikram will play the role of villian in it. Where as in Tamil, the title of the film is not yet confirmed, and the film will have Vikram and Aiswarya playing the lead roles, and in Tamil, notable actor from Mollywood Prithviraj, will play the role of villian.

This new film from Mani Ratnam, is being made in an inspiration from the epic, Ramayana. In the hindi version, Abhishek plays Rama, and Aiswarya plays the role of Seetha, whereas Vikram plays Ravana in it. In Tamil, Vikram plays Rama, and the role of Ravana will be played by Prithviraj. In hindi, Priyamani plays the role of Surpanagai, younger sister of Ravana.

The National award winning heroine was expected to be tapping foot with Vijay, Suriya or Vikram after 'Paruthi Veeran'. But what made the actress accept this offer to play the sister is one name – Mani Rathnam. It is heard that she doesn't play the usual teary sister who seeks solace from her brother, though she is the sister of Ravana.

It was how Karnan's life was envisaged into 'Dhalapathi' with the Superstar Rajni kant, Ramayana had become this new movie. Since the maker of the film is the great Mani Ratnam himself, it's not a literal remake of the epic and Mani Rathnam might sculpt the National award winning actress Priyamani to deliver apt performance.

Vikram shakes a leg with Mumait Khan

Vikram shakes his leg with Mumaith Khan for the remix of the yesteryear hit number 'Pambarakannalae' for his forthcoming release 'Kanthaswamy'.

The movie, directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, has musical score by Devi Sri Prasad. Shriya plays the heroine.

The remix of the yesteryear Chandrababu song is being shot featuring Vikram and Mumaith Khan. According to reports, a major portion of the film has been completed.

The movie also features Vivek in a prominent role. Efforts are on to release 'Kanthaswamy' by this year-end.
