Ee Pattanathil Bhootham : Review

Superstar Mammootty's much awaited flick, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham has finally released all across Kerala in around 92 centers. This new film took an excellent start mainly due to the huge fan base of the actor. Directed by Johny Antony, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is produced by S Benchamin in the banner of High bright films.

This film, which is said to be a hilarious slapstick comedy may work with the childrens, but all in all this film is a major let down. More was expected from a director who previously directed a nice film like Cycle and from the script writers Sibi K Thomas and Udaya Krishnan after their multi starrer Twenty 20 and also from Mr Mammootty, who had delivered so many memorable films to the Malayalam film industry.

In the acting side, Mammootty does a double act of Bhootham as well as Jimmy, the circus stunt man. Mammooty’s character Jimmy is eye candy while his second character won’t appeal much, mostly due to the childish voice which may get misidentified. Role of Kavya Madhavan in this film is very tiny eventhough she plays an important character. Suraj and Salim Kumar did their part with some nice comedies and the whole remaining cast were just ok with their roles.

In the technical side, major let down was from the part of the director himself. Either he should have opted for a nice script or should have done the film in an interesting manner, but finally, he failed miserably. Other thing to be critised in the movie is the graphical works that dragged the releasing date of this movie to a large extend. Animation done in film is visible to the eyes of every other viewer who were familiar with visual amusements in most of the English films.

Simply, the main reason that works against the movie is that story line, characters and situations are all predictable, which is acceptable for a fantasy movie but it could have done in a different manner. All the men, who worked for this film in it's technical part have just done ok with no one of them really showing any type of excellence from their part. Music by Shaan too was a let down, which could have improved.

All in all, this new Malayalam film Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is an average flick. I prefer you to watch the movie, if you like to watch films that just entertains you with nothing new to offer at all.
