Biggies to fight..............

Now here's one week everyone's looking forward to. After a string of low-cost and medium-budget fares making a mark in the holy month of Ramzan, let's get ready to embrace the biggies, starting this week. All eyes are on Kidnap and Drona. For various reasons.

Kidnap is crucial for director Sanjay Gadhvi and his actor, Imran Khan.

Gadhvi makes his first film outside Yash Raj and naturally, people are expecting big returns from Gadhvi's new outing. Will Kidnap be as successful as Dhoom and Dhoom 2?

Kidnap is also an acid test for Imran Khan, who has been cast in a role that's in sharp contrast to the one in Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na.

Will it work? Will Imran stand up to a giant like Sanjay Dutt?

Similarly, Drona is crucial for Abhishek Bachchan and Goldie Behl. Abhishek has had a string of flops after Guru.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag, produced by Yash Raj, have proved supreme disasters at the box-office, while Sarkar Raj met with average success in Mumbai-Maharashtra and South. Elsewhere, it was a flop.

Since Drona rides on Abhishek's shoulders, it'll be interesting to see if the actor pulls in the audiences in its opening four-day weekend. Also, Goldie Behl has to prove his abilities after he failed the test in Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai. Thursday, October 2 holds the answers!

Why was it a delayed Kidnap?

Years before, around 2003 Director Sanjay Gadhvi had penned the script for Kidnap. How come it got so delayed to complete it? Are you gauging the rigid cause for it? Well, we have Gadhvi revealing the reason lying beneath it. Kidnap was supposed to be second flick to be listed his directorial graph and things were started rolling out getting more fortunes for Sanjay Gadhvi. "It nearly took 8 months between mid-2002 to earlier months of 2003 to complete script works. With Sanjay Dutt not able to sign for proper dates, we decided to postpone the project" says Sanjay who continuously churned out chart-topping films Dhoom and its sequel. That had gradually led to the shelving of Kidnap for over past 5 years. Recently, after signing up with Ashtavinayak, Sanjay Gadhvi suggested Kidnap and it all started rolling with it.

"If not, Imran Khan it would have been Shahid Kapoor" says the Director who is elated that Imran Khan would fetch more credits for Kidnap as he has won laurels with Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na.

Imran Khan is a bonus for 'Kidnap'........

After the successful "Dhoom" series, Sanjay Gadhvi is looking forward to his forthcoming release "Kidnap", which has current flavour Imran Khan in an important role. The director describes his presence in the movie as a "bonus".

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba.

"Imran is a bonus now. I never knew he'd become so big. It was Shibani Bhatija (the scriptwriter) who mentioned that Aamir Khan's nephew was looking to act," Gadhvi told.

"When I decided to cast Imran, I didn't even know he was doing 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na'. I had no clue Imran's first film would turn him into a household hero. Everything happens as it is meant to be. I wanted to cast a boy who wants to be a man.

"When I saw him, I knew this was the guy who'd play Kabeer in 'Kidnap'. Because of his mixed lineage, Imran has a very interesting face. He reminded me of Marlon Brando in 'On The Waterfront'. I didn't have to change Imran's look, like Hrithik in 'Dhoom 2' or Esha in 'Dhoom'. Just a stubble and a muscular look," he said.

Although Imran has a sizeable part in the film, the director says "Kidnap" is Sanjay Dutt's film.

"'Kidnap' is a Sanjay Dutt vehicle. From 'Jaane Tu...' to 'Kidnap' is like Kashmir to Kanyakumari for Imran. His character carries the weight of the world on his shoulders like Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan in 'Zanjeer'. Sanjay and Imran share a great chemistry."

Sanjay agreed to play Minissha Lamba's father in "Kidnap" without a second thought.

"I think Sanjay wanted to do a father-daughter film for a long time. In the film, he doesn't get to see his daughter for eight years. Somewhere he connected with that situation on a personal level."
