Six Malayalam films in January

The month of January is considered to be a month of rehabitation for the Malayalam film industry since the Christmas season was very dull when compared with the previous ones. There were only three releases for this Christmas out of which one film was a low budget film Chempada with freshers in it's lead. It was not bound to make huge waves in the industry. The other two releases were Lollipop and Crazy Gopalan which was expected to thrill the audience, but both of the films failed to make upto the expectations of the audience.

During the Christmas season, either Mammootty or Mohanlal doesnot have a release since the post production works of the Superstar movies were not completed in time. Mohanlal's Red Chillies and Mammootty's Vande Matharam and Love in Singapore were expected for this Christmas season. But it doesnot happened. Only Shafi's colorful youngster movie Lollipop and Dileep's comic thriller Crazy Gopalan made it to the theatres. But bad reviews have negatively affected the movie's collection and Crazy Gopalan was bit better when compared to Lollipop in terms of review from the viewers. Surprisingly AMMA's Multistarrer Twenty 20 continued to rule the theatres during the Christmas season too.

After this debacle, Mollywood will see six new releases in this month of January. It includes films from the Superstars of Mollywood too. Mohanlal's Red Chillies with Shaji Kailas will be his first release as well as Mollywood's first release in 2009. The other's to follow the list are Mammootty's Love in Singapore with Rafi Mecartin, Raj Babu's Dileep starrer Colours, Jayaram's Samasathakeralam P.O. with Bibin Prabhakar, Suresh Gopi's comedy flick Hailesa with Nizar and V.M. Vinu's Makante Achan with Sreenivasan and his son Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Let's wish, all the best for this upcoming flicks and let's hope that these films will help Mollywood to get away from this current dullness and acquire it's old glory.
