New Year in Tamil film industry is expected to do much wonders since the last couple of months were not that good when the returns of recently released films are considered. In January itself, some of the big star movies are getting ready to be released. Here is the list of releases for this January as well as for the famous Ponkal season. Most of the films are yet to be censored since they are still conducting their post production works. So some changes may occur at the last moment.January 9 :- A Aa E Ee from youngster Navdeep.
January 14 :- Villu from Vijay, Padikathavan from Dhanush, Engal Asan from Vijaya Kant, Guru En Aalu from Madhavan, Kathal Na Summa Illa from youngster Ravikrishna and Pattalam from Nadiya Moidu and a set of freshers.
January 23 :- Perumal from Sundar C and a freshers film Sattrum Kidacha Thakaval.
January 30 :- Ade Neram Ade Idam from Jai, Aintham Padai from Sundar C and the much expected Naan Kadavul from Arya.
Out of these films, the films that are going to release on the date of January 14th will have to perform well since almost all of the films are made by established actors like Vijay, Dhanush, Vijaya Kant etc. As per the trade analysis, Vijay's Villu is expected to win the race majorily due to the huge fan base of the star and also due to the combination of Vijay and Prabhu Deva after the big hit Pokkiri. Other films except Naan Kadavul, that are ready to get released on others dates are not in a great mood to make great collections, but film field is always unpredictable. Arya's much awaited Naan Kadavul is carrying good preview reports, so may take a descent opening compared to other low profile films.
