Heroes : The Review

The latest multistarrer in Bollywood 'Heroes' reached the cinema halls on last day. This film’s promotion of practical patriotism over jingoistic lines is refreshing. This film have created a descent response from the audience.

This multi starrer features Salman Khan, Priety Zinta, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Dino Morea, Midhun Chakravarthy, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth etc. When we talk about this film, it's a fantabulous piece of work churned by director Samir Karnik and it's worthy to be ennobled as one of the year's best film. Well, for those who ever thought that 'Heroes' is a flick centering on Jawans of Country's borders breathing their last for saving Nation from clutches of rivalries, there's a surprise element awaited.

It's about two film students, high on the good life, argue about joining the army. They have to think up a topic for their graduation film anyway; so they decide to make one on `Why not join the armed forces’. They enlist help from a friend’s cousin who is a war journalist, he tells them to deliver three letters by deceased soldiers to their families and ensures them that this experience would make their film.

First, they meet a widow (Preity Zinta) in deep village of Punjab, who lost her husband Balkar Singh (Salman Khan) during war. The flashback reveals a beautiful love story between both of them and the pain possessed by her. Second stop for the boys is Himachal, where they meet disabled ex-air force officer Vikram Shergill (Sunny Deol) who lives alone and drinks around the clock. Glad to have company, Vikram tells the story of his brother Dhananjay (Bobby Deol) who lost his life in war. Third up, is letter delivery to army officer Sahil Naqvi’s (Dino Morea) home, where his mother is throwing elaborate tea parties to get her life back on routine, while the father (Mithun Chakraborty) is inconsolably bitter.

Hats off to Director Samir Karnik! An awesome flick… It enhances the emotional and patriotic feel amongst all the audiences. A smart way of storytelling precisely presents the film fantastically. On technical aspects, different backdrops of exotic locations have been fabulously canned by Binod Pradhan and Gopal Shah. Be it songs (especially 'Mannata' and 'Makhana') and background score, Sajid-Wajid sway enhancing the top-notched quality of film.

Almost all the stars in the film have done their part very well. Writing and editing could have done away with a lot of extraneous material to make the film tighter and more energetic. Dialogue is good, but does slip in the `hamara desh, hamara bharat mahaan’ bit, which sounds unnatural.

Anyway, i will recommend strictly, each and everyone to go and watch this movie for once, since it features a balanced approach towards patriotism in the real world, without enemy-bashing. Congratulations for the director and his crew for such a meaningful cinema, though it wasn't a great piece of work. But it should have done better.
