Mohanlal is the best
Mohanlal, Superstar of Malayalam film industry has bagged yet another prestigious award for his excellent acting skill. He has been showered with huge accloades for his performances in the films Akashagopuram and Kurukshetra. This time he was offered the best actor award for the roles performed by him in these films. This time it is the famous Film Critics Award for the year 2008.Other's who were fecilitated with this prestigious award are Sukumari, as best actress for her role in the film Mizhikal Sakshi, Actor Madhupal for his directorial debut Thalappavu is the best director, and the films Thalappavu and Thirakkatha were togetherly selected as the best films of the year. The Chalachitra Ratnam honour will be conferred on veteran producer T E Vasudevan, for his contributions to Malayalam cinema.
Kurukshetra was selected as the second best film of the year and Twenty 20 was selected as the best popular film. Renjith, second best actor for his performance in Gulmohar and Priyanka, second best actress for Vilapangalkappuram, Shilpa Bala (best debutante artiste for Orkkuka Vallapozhum), Sohanlal and Hari Narayanan (best debutante directors for Orkkuka Vallapozhum and Nanthuni respectively).

Aamir's 3 Idiots for this year's Christmas
Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is going to have a straight third release for this year's Christmas day also. After the stupendous success of Ghajini and Taare Zameen Par which released on the Christmas weekend, Aamir Khan will present his new film 3 Idiots, on 25th December 2009. The film will feature Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani along with Aamir in the lead.The much anticipated film of 2009, 3 Idiots is already in the news due to the unbeatable combination of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Raju Hirani. The script of the film was written by Abhijat Joshi, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani. The film is being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banner Vinod Chopra Films. Music department will be handled by the lyricist Swanand Kirkire and composer Shantanu Moitra.
Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots, has already started it's shooting. The film is now currently conducting it's shoot of second schedule, that comprises of 33 days at IIM, Bangalore. The first schedule of the film was completed in and around Ladakh and Simla by September 2008. The cast and crew will be back in February to complete its last schedule in Mumbai. After the Bangalore schedule the film will be 80% complete.
Let's hope, like Aamir's last two releases, this year's Christmas release too may help him to do some wonders at the box office.

Box office report of Love in Singapore
Superstar Mammootty is a hot property in Malayalam film industry. He is the Superstar of Malayalam for about two decades now. He was expected to start this new year in a stylish manner, with the film Love in Singapore. Love in Singapore was considered to be a hillarious comedy film by the hit directors Rafi Mecartin. This new film was produced by Rafi under the banner MHM productions and Navneet Kaur was the heroine of the movie.Unfortunately, Love in Singapore failed to rose upto the expectations of the audience. The film is now already in the losing propositions in the Box Office. The film have started well with the big initial weekend collections, mainly due to the colorful posters and the initial hype. But after the initial pulling, the film have settled down with a net lose of about 50% percent or more. It is certainly a fact that the film will not end up as a winner at the end.
According to the trade analysts, the film is totally a ridiculous and idiotic plot that drives you crazy. Rafi and Mecartin have delivered a dud with Love in Singapore, that is nothing at all as a film. With a look on how the film have performed so far, the film will at the most end up as an average earner. The movie will find it hard to reach up to the status of a hit.
Surely, Superstar Mammootty will have to look for a much better script in the near future itself, because the films that released with him in the lead, in the recent past worked against him in all manner.

Kandasamy with a record price
Tamil star Vikram's latest upcoming release will be his much awaited big budget film Kandasamy. It was about one year back that the trailor of the film was first shown. Meanwhile, the releasing dates of the film got shifted for number of times. Now, it is confirmed that Vikram's Kandasamy will hit the theatres either by April last week or by May first week. The releasing date will be fixed only after considering the dates of Parliament election, that is likely to happen in April.Even before the film gets released, Kandasamy have made a great step ahead. The theatrical rights of the film for the Chennai city only got sold for a record Rs 4.01 crore. It is the biggest ever deal done for Chennai city rights in the last one year. The rights of the film was acquired by Abirami Ramanathan from producer Kalaipuli.S Thanu. It is the same person who have acquired the rights of Superstar Rajni Kant starrer Shivaji for an existing record price of Rs 6 crore.
Kandasamy is expected to be an entertainment extravaganza, and definitely the big summer release. The film which was directed by Susi Ganeshan have Shriya Saran as the main lady lead. The film have completed it's entire shooting and is currently under it's post production works.
A film that features Vikram in the lead, who is not yet considered as a crowd puller by himself, has been sold for such a big sum of money states that now it is going to be a new era for the Tamil film distribution rights.

B Unnikrishnan's next with Mammootty
Since there are only two Superstars in Malayalam film industry, it's now a routine job to announce a new project with either of the Superstar in a week. Now the turn is with Superstar Mammootty. A new project is announced today with Mammootty in the lead role.According to the latest news, Mammootty will play the lead role in B Unnikrishnan's next movie. Currently B Unnikrishnan is busy with his Suresh Gopi starrer I.G that is in progress. I.G is B Unnikrishnan's third directorial venture, with Suresh Gopi starrer Smart City and Superstar Mohanlal starrer Maadambi being the previous two films.
After completing I.G, B Unnikrishnan will immediately start the scripting works of this Mammootty starrer. This new untitled movie will be produced by B Joshi ( Maadambi fame). Meanwhile Mammootty too have to complete some of the previousily committed projects.

Pokkiri to be made in Kannada too
Prince of Telugu film industry, Mahesh Babu is back after a long gap of about two years, since his last film was Athidi in 2007. Mahesh Babu's next movie will be with hit director Trivikram. The film is currently titled as Varudu, but it is heard that the title might be changed in the future. Producer Singanamala Ramesh is making the movie on Kanaka Ratna Movies banner.Now the striking news about Mahesh Babu is that his one of the biggest career hit film Pokkiri is now going to be remade for the fourth time. Original Pokkiri that featured Mahesh Babu and Illeana was a smashing hit in Tollywood. Then it was later remade to Kollywood with Illaya thalapathy Vijay and Asin donning the lead roles. The result was an even bigger hit that created a path for it's inmates to remake it into Bollywood.
The Bollywood version of the Pokkiri, which is titled as Wanted Dead or Alive will feature Salman Khan and Ayesha Talkia in the lead roles and was directed by Prabhu Deva, the director of Tamil version too. Now the fourth edition of Pokkiri is going to be made in Kannada, with Kannada's rising star Darshan in the lead role. The film is now standing second to Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don, for the most number of remakes. Don was remade 5 times and Pokkiri is currently standing at 4.
With the film Pokkiri, that is creating waves all around the Indian film industry, Tollywood has all the rights to be proud because it all is due to one man - Puri Jaganath. He was the director of the original movie. Let's wish just like in Kollywood and Tollywood, the saga of the film Pokkiri can hold on in Bollywood and Kannada film industry.

Vijay's 50th film with 'Jayam' Raja
Illaya thalapathy Vijay is approaching his prestigious 50th film. Currently Vijay is enjoying the success of his 48th film Villu, which was directed by his mentor Prabhu Deva. Though the film Villu is carrying mixed reviews, the film was able to make it big due to the mass hero image of Vijay. Nayan Thara was the heroine of Villu, which also featured Prakash Raj as a powerful villian. A lot was expected about the film, when the team of Prabhu Deva and Vijay joined together after their first film, Pokkiri which was a blockbuster.Vijay will start the works of his 49th movie, Vettaikkaran by the middle of next month. Vettaikkaran will be a typical Vijay film, which is to be produced by the famous brand of south, AVM. The film will feature the numero uno heroine of Telugu, Anushka as it's heroine. Now the most surprising news is that Vijay's 50th film will be directed by none other than 'Jayam' Raja. It was really a surprising news about the director for Vijay's 50th film since famous director's like Siddique and Dharani were considered to be the top runners for that spot.
Both Siddique (Friends) and Dharani (Ghilli and Kuruvi) have done movies previousily with Vijay. All those films were superb at the box office too. Now it will be an interesting thing to watch since both the director and actor are famous for their hit films that were remade from other languages, especially from Tollywood. It is to be noted that it's him 'Jayam' Raja who made his younger brother 'Jayam' Ravi, a star in Kollywood with the hits that he produced by remaking successful Telugu films. Vijay too rose to the super stardom through his successful remakes from other languages.
It has to be seen whether the director, 'Jayam' Raja will go for an original subject or for a remake, for Vijay’s Golden Jubilee film. Let's wait for much more news about this new film from the team of 'Jayam' Raja and Illaya thalapathy Vijay.

Mohanlal's Casannova
It is about two years now, from where we started to hear about Roshan Andrews - Mohanlal team's Casannova. Atlast the film is all set to start by the month of April. The pooja of the film was held at Confidante Cascade in Bangalore, a resort run by the producer of the film, Dr Roy C.J of Confident Group. Casannova is going to be Malayalam's biggest film ever with around 10 crores budget and is expected to be Mohanlal's big 2009 Onam release on September 2 through Vaisakha Films.In this new film, Mohanlal will play a Casannova who not only runs after women but also runs the most successful international flower business based in Vienna in Austria. According to the director, this new film is an action, romantic thriller revolving around a Casannova, who believes that love can cure crime. There is a Casannova in one out of every five men in the world. Mohanlal came to the function along with six Mumbai models in a six door white Limousine.
Tamil star Arya too have a prominent role in this big budget film. The film is based on a story by Sanjay and Bobby. Like Mohanlal, Arya too made his entrance in a stylish way, ie he burst into the stage at the function on a red motorcycle. This film will be Arya's first film in Mollywood, even though he is a Malayalee by birth. Arya alias Jamshed is a native of Kasargod. Arya have provided a bulk of about 40 days for shooting his part and the shooting of the film will start in Vienna in Austria and other European locations by April 11th.
Director Roshan Andrews and script writers Bobby-Sanjay have been working behind this script for about more than two years. Music of the film will be handled by Alex Paul and camera by R Divakaran. The major highlight of the movie will be it's mind blowing stunts, that will be choreographed by Hollywood stuntmaster Franz Spilhaus. There are five models and Lakshmi Rai in the film along with other Malayalam artists.
The function was attended by some of the great talented persons from various industries. They include artists like Jagathy Sreekumar, Lalu Alex, Lakshmi Rai, Arshad Warsi and Priyanka and directors like Priyadarshan, Joshy, Sibi Malayil and producers like Suresh Kumar, P.V Gangadharan, Antony Perumbavoor etc.

Mammootty as Mike Gopalan in Jayaraj's flick
It has been reported earlier that Superstar of Mollywood, Mammootty is going to do a movie with talented director Jayaraj. The news has now been confirmed and the script works of the movie have already started by director Renjith. The team of script writer Renjith, director Jayaraj and Superstar Mammootty are coming together after a long gap of 18 years, exactly after the film Johny Walker (1991) which was an average flick at the box office.The title of this new film is considered to be Loud Speaker. Interesting wright?? If you consider the titles of recent Mammootty flicks, then you can notice one thing that they all are about the highlighted quality of the protagonist. Consider some titles from past like Mayavi, Thaskaraveran and Parunthu and now some movies that Mammootty have agreed to do like Handsome, Pokkiriraaja and Daddycool. So it is clear that Mammootty enjoys doing movies with such a different titles.
According to the dierctor, this new movie will be a land mark in the Superstar's career. Mammootty will be doing a character named as Mike Gopalan in this movie, which is about a person who always prefers to talk aloud. Let's hope this new movie will make a mark by it's own in Malayalam film industry.

Dileep with new movie 'Spiderman'
One of the popular actor in Mollywood, Dileep is back in track with his last film, Crazy Gopalan that released on Christmas season becoming a smashing hit. The actor was certainly looking for a success since he doesnot have a single success for last one and a half year. Though his previous film that he produced Twenty 20 becomes a bumber hit, the credit for the success was shared by every actors in the industry since it was a multi starrer.Now, Dileep is all set to recapture his lost position of a mass star with the list of his upcoming films. The very next film that will feature Dileep as the hero will be Colors, which was produced by Aroma Mani and directed by Raj Babu who rose to fame with his previous two films ( Chess with Dileep and Kangaroo with Prithviraj). Colors will feature Roma, Bhama and Vinoo Mohan as the other lead actors of the movie. Colors will grace the theatres by the end of this month.
The latest news in relation with Dileep is a striking one and it is that the actor is all set to introduce a desi version of Spiderman with his new untitled film. Spiderman is considered to be one of the biggest collected movies of the world and is having a lots of fans in Kerala itself. The desi version of Spiderman will be directed by Rajbabu and the script will be handled by the hit duo Sibi K Thomas and Udhay Krissna.
According to some sources, Dileep will feature the title role Spiderman in this movie, which will have reseblance to the original Hollywood version in it's title only. The film is expected to be a hilarious comedy as usual from a movie that features scriptwriters Sibi K Thomas and Udhay Krissna and lead actor Dileep together. The project will get started within a short period of time.
