Mohanlal to act with Sarada

Everyone should have come up with the news that Roshan Andrews have postponed his big budget movie Casanova with Superstar Mohanlal. In the meantime, Roshan have planned to start a quickie with Mohanlal in the scripts of James Albert. This new film, which is titled as Karshakashree will be produced by Aashirwad Cinemas.

This medium budgeted film will feature Mohanlal as a middle aged farmer by name Mathachan. The most notable thing with the film is that it will feature Mohanlal for the first time with the three time National award winning actress Sarada. Eventhough, Sarada is in the Malayalam film industry for nearly 50 years, both these talented artists were not been able to act together.

This new Mohanlal film will feature Bhavana, Lakshmi Rai and Padmapriya as the heroines and the shooting for this film will commence by the month of June.

Thoranai : Review

Thoranai, new Tamil film featuring Vishal and Shriya Saran in the lead was released worldwide today. The Telugu version of the film was titled as Pista. This new film was labeled as yet another action flick from Vishal and finally it seems that the film was actually a blend of action, romance, sentiments and comedy. Qiute frankly speaking, this new film can be considered as the same old wine in a new label.

The main problem that lies with this film is that it fails to deliver freshness to the audience, which means a threadbare script centered on a predictable plot. The film miserably failed to come up with an engaging script too, that featured a meaningless film, with nothing happening in the first half of the film. The film can be considered as an overcooked stew.

All the artists who have performed in this film were just okay, with nobody coming up with any kind of excellent works. The most pathetic moment was when Vishal tried his luck at comedy. This film is a major letdown that has only the six songs by Mani Sharma and Shriya Saran’s glamour to hold on the viewers.

In the technical part, first man to be criticised will be none other than the director, Saba Iyyapan, who is a debutant. He had come up with a story that is as old as a hill and even failed in presenting the film in an interesting manner too. Almost all the crew members have just gone through their jobs with no serious commitment at all.

All in all, this new film Thoranai is a time pass movie, if and only if you wishes to watch such type of mass masala films. Let's conclude, this film is an average film with nothing new in it.

Moser Baer into Malayalam film industry

Malayalam film industry will now witness the coming of big corporate companies into the field of film production as well as distribution. Moser Baer, world's second largest manufacturer of Optical Storage media as well as India’s largest home entertainment company is now ready to enter into Mollywood.

Moser Baer's film wing have already started film production as well as distribution in other languages like Hindi and Tamil. As of now, it's hearing that they have decided to produce and distribute two Malayalam films by this year itself. They are also planning to increase the number of films produced in the near future.

The first film to be produced by this global technology major will be a Jayaram starrer. This new film, which is titled as Kaana Kanmani will once again feature the team that worked behind the Megahit film, Veruthe Oru Bharya. There will be one change in this film, instead of Gopika, Padmapriya will be the heroine in this new flick. Anto Joseph wil be the line producer of the film which is likely to be jayaram's Ramzan release.

The second film to be produced by this group is with none other than Superstar Mammootty. This new film, which is titled as Loud Speaker will be directed by Jayaraj and the script of the movie will be handled by writer-director Renjith. Gracy Singh is now fixed to play the lady lead for Mammootty in this film. Sabita Jayaraj will be the line producer of this film which is likely to be Mammootty’s Christmas release.

Moser Baer are planning to produce more films within this year itself, so that they are now in talk with three other producers, for a Mohanlal, Prithviraj and a Dileep film. All these projects are still in their starting stage only. Can this gigantic group succeed here also and how it's gonna affect the Malayalam film industry. Let's wait and see.

No Onam releases this year !!!

Malayalam film industry is going on with it's poor box office results. Out of the films that got released in this year's summer vaccation only four films were able to recapture the amount of money spent on it's shooting. Except those 4 films, Lal directed 2 Harihar Nagar, Jayaram's Bhagyadevatha, Dileep and Sreenivasan starrer Passenger and Mohanlal's Saagar Alias jackie - Reloaded all the other films were met with a disaster at the box office.

Now it's the time to move on and think about the next major festival season in Malayalam film industry, Onam season. But if the sources are to be believed then there will be no major Malayalam releases for Onam 2009. This is happening for the first time in over a decade and the major reason for this backing up is the Noyambu (Fasting period) season. Onam which falls on September 2, is exactly in the middle of Noyambu, starting on August 20 to September 20.

There is a strong belief in the Malayalam film industry that films which are releasing in the Noyambu season will be a flop. It's a true fact that those films will have to suffer severely due to poor collections. Keeping all these in mind, almost all the films that are earlier slated for an Onam release will now only release on September 18.

It will have to be checked whether any of the makers will dare to release their film in the Noyambu season. The films that are shifted to the Ramzan period include Mammootty’s epic magnum opus Pazhassi Raja, Mohanlal’s untitled film with Roshan Andrews, Dileep’s Bodyguard and Prithviraj’s Robin Hood.

Mammootty's upcoming releases

Superstar Mammootty's much hyped movie, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham will grace the theatres by the date of June 25. This comical entertainer directed by Johny Antony will feature Mammootty in a dual role, as a bike jumper in a circus camp and as a friendly ghost. Kavya Madhavan is playing the lady lead as Mammootty's heroine for the very first time in her career. This film will take the widest ever release for a Malayalam film by releasing it in around 111 screens.

Superstar Mammootty's next film to get released is debutant Ashiq Abu's Daddy Cool. Earlier this film was slated for a July release but now it's hearing that this film will grace the theatres only by August 15, as an Independence Day release. This new film will feature Mammootty as a CBI officer who loves his son more than anything else. The movie featuring Richa Palod as the heroine has recently completed it's shooting and it's post production work's are going on.

Two more Mammootty films ( Kuttyshranku and Vande Matharam ) are already completed and waiting for a proper release. Most probably, Kuttyshranku will be Mammootty's Onam release and his Vande Matharam too will grace the theatres by the same time. Mammootty will now move on to complete his upcoming projects like Gireesh's Handsome, Jayaraj's Loudspeaker and Renjith's Palery Maanikyam.

Unnai Pol Oruvan for August 12

Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal has completed his new Tamil film Unnai Pol Oruvan with Ulaka Nayakan Kamal Hassan. This new film, which is a remake of the Hindi classic A Wednesday is being jointly produced by Kamal Hassan and UTV productions. The other major highlight is that the music for this film is being composed by Shruti Hassan, daughter of Kamal Hassan.

Shooting for this film was completed at the Ramoji Rao film city in Hyderabad, a couple of days ago. This new film, which was directed by debutant Chakri Toleti will now get completed including the post production work, in a month from now. The film has been shot entirely in Hyderabad and is planned as a bilingual, simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu (Eenadu).

One of the most expected film of the year, Unnai Pol Oruvan was earlier scheduled to be released on July, but now it is all set to release on August 12. This date was selected because a good fifty years ago, was when Kamal’s first film, Kalathur Kannamma was released. The other major reason for the August release is that this film can also be featured as Mohanlal's Onam offering to his fans in Kerala.

This new film Unnai Pol Oruvan, that features two of the living legends Indian Cinema have ever produced will be a special film that excites not only the film lovers in Malayalam and Tamil but also the film lovers in the whole country.

Nagarjuna's new film

The King of Telugu film industry, Nagarjuna is now all set to start his new film. Nagarjuna will be in a high status since his last film King was a super success in Tollywood. This new untitled film featuring Nagarjuna in the lead will be launched in the month of June.

This new Nagarjuna starring film will be produced by D. Shiva Prasad Reddy and will be directed by a talented debutant guy. Nagarjuna is well known for introducing new director's through out his career. This list contains popular director's like Ram Gopal Varma, Krishna Vamsi, Lawrence etc.

More details about this new film is not yet revealed since this film is not officially announced at all.

Rajni and Kamal to act together???

If all gets ready according to the plan then the Tamil film lovers will surely get a treat for them. It is heard that one of the legendary directors in Tamil film industry, K Balachander is planning to make a multi starrer with Superstar Rajni Kant and Ulaka Nayakan Kamal Hassan in it.

Eventhough this news is not a confirmed one, everyone in the industry are expecting that this multi starrer will happen since both these legendary actors were introduced into the film world by this same veteran director. This happen to be K Balachander's 101th movie.

If this film happens then it will be the reunion of Kamal Hassan and Rajni Kant after a long long time. They haven't shared the screenspace after both of them becoming Superstars in their own way. This film, which is yet to be launched officially has been titled as Poi.
