For the first time in the last two decades of Mollywood, the top three summer hits does not feature a Mammootty or a Mohanlal film. By the time of this year's Summer season ends, films that reached the theatres with quite a different approach and story won the race without any major challenge. Let's check which are the movies that got into the summer hit chart.
Major Ravi, one of the notable director's in Malayalam film industry is going to change his image by doing a string of variety films. Currently he is busy with his first ever untitled Tamil film with action star Arjun. This film is all about patriotism and will introduce new Malayalam heroine Aswathy Ashok to the Tamil audience.Major Ravi, who had earlier made films like Keerthichakra and Kurukshetra with Mohanlal and Mission 90 Days with Mammootty is well known for making films that are related with army forces. As a plan of changing his image, he will soon start the work for his new Malayalam film, which will be a horror film, titled as Maadan Kolli.
For a change, this time Major Ravi won't cast either of the Superstar's of Malayalam, but it will be the upcoming Superstar of Malayalam, Prithviraj. This new horror film will be scripted by Sunil Parameswaran (Ananthabhadram fame). Camera of this film will be handled by Thiru and it will be produced by Vysakha Films Rajan.
According to the director, this new untitled Malayalam film will be an edge of the seat spine chilling fantasy thriller. More news about the film as well as the crew members are yet to be revealed.

Malayalam star Suresh Gopi is going to bounce back from his low current status with the sequel to one of the notable films in his career, Pathram. The original film, that was released about a decade ago was a huge hit. Pathram was written by Ranji Panicker and directed by Joshy and was considered as one of the best political action thrillers ever in Malayalam.
Kanthasamy, is the upcoming movie from Tamil actor Vikram. Vikram is considered as a talented actor in Tamil film industry after the Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan himself. He has been shooting for this film for last two years. Officially, it is heard now that Kanthasamy will reach the theatres by July 10. This Superhero movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. Shriya Saran is the heroine of the movie.Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer. Vikram got to fame by his heartbreaking performances in films like Sethu, Dil, Dhool, Gemini, Annyan and Pithamagan but now he is in such a situation that he badly needs a hit since his last two outings Majaa and Bheema were total wash out at the box office.
You all will be still remembering that the film was launched with a lot of fanfare including a trailer more than two years back. According to the makers, the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film. Now the film that was completed in a whooping budget of 70 crores, will finally reach the theatres by 10th of July. In kerala, the movie distributed by Thameens, will grace 70 theaters on the same day.

Trisha, the beauty queen of South Indian Cinema, especially the Tollywood and Kollywood is now going to make her debut into the Hindi film industry. She is now all set to conquer the Bollywood, just like her predecessor's Asin, Genelia and Shriya Saran. She will be seen as the heroine of none other than Akshay Kumar in his upcoming new film.The other notable thing is that this new untitled comedy film will be directed by one of the busy director's in Bollywood, Priyadarshan. It should be noted that it's Priyadarshan, who gave Trisha her first break in the film field with his Tamil film, Leysa Leysa. It's reported that after watching the movie Abhiyum Naanum, Akshay was so convinced with the actress that he wanted her to be his next heroine.
When asked about her new Bollywood offer, Trisha too has given her consent for the role. Currently, Trisha is busy with her two Tamil films, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya with Silambarasan and Aadukalam with Dhanush.
