Malayalam Summer hit chart 2009

For the first time in the last two decades of Mollywood, the top three summer hits does not feature a Mammootty or a Mohanlal film. By the time of this year's Summer season ends, films that reached the theatres with quite a different approach and story won the race without any major challenge. Let's check which are the movies that got into the summer hit chart.

Without any question, the winner of this year's Summer season is 2 harihar Nagar. The film that was
made on a cost of Rs 2 crore is likely to get a distributors share of Rs 6 crore plus. From the profit that the film had made, it can be stated as a blockbuster.

The film that was questioned by the critics for it's old theme, Sathyan Anthicad's Bhagyadevatha is finishing the race at the second position. The film that was
made on a budget of Rs 2.50 crore, is likely to get a distributors share of Rs 3.25 crore and can be stated as a Super hit.

As a surprise package, debutant
Ranjit Shankar's Passenger that was loved by the class audiences has made it into the third position. The film that was made on a budget of Rs 1.60 crore is likely to do business worth Rs 2.10 crore and can be stated as a hit.

Superstar Mohanlal's much hyped movie, Saagar Alias Jackie - Reloaded started with a bang but was not able to hold on with that dream start. The film that was
made on a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, will just recover it's cost from the entire run and so it can be stated as an average hit.

Neither of the films that were released within this season have done descent business at the box office causing them all severely. Hence, they all are big loosers according to the trade analysis.
