Yugapurushan to kick start soon

Yugapurushan, it's the name of a new Malayalam movie. It's an offbeat venture featuring the life of Sree Narayana Guru. It also features other famous personalities who were alive at that period along with Guru like Swami Vivekananda, Kumaran Asan etc. This film will be directed by R Sukumar and produced by A.V Anoop under the banner AVA productions.

The latest news that relates with this new film is that Kavya Madhavan who was casted to play the role of a Brahmin lady named Savithri Antharjanam who admires the views of Sree Narayana Guru has backed from the film due to that she is entering wedlock within two months. Now that role will be played by Navya Nair. Her character Savithri loves Koran, who is a Pulaya, a lower caste man and later marries him and also changes her lifestyle according to the views of the Guru.

Earlier it was Superstar Mammootty who was casted to play the role of Guru but he later backed from that role since he was not sure about his look to have similarities with Guru. Now Tamil film actor Thalaivaasal Vijay will play the role of Sree Narayana Guru and Mammootty will now appear in the movie as a revolutionist. The other major news about the film is that Superstar Mohanlal will also seen in this historic flick as none other than great Swami Vivekananda.

The shoot of the film will start in Ottapaalam on January 21st and the film will reach the theatres soon.

Surya's daring act

Young Tamil Superstar Surya is rating high in his career with his latest film Vaaranam Aayiram becoming a hit even after it faced a mixed reviews from the audiences. After this successful venture with Gautham Vasudev Menon, Surya is ready with his new film in Tamil, Ayan which will be a pure commercial flick. This K V Anand directed movie had Tamanna as it's heroine.

This new movie Ayan had made news at the starting of shooting itself with it's grand set which has been constructed at Binny mills in Chennai for the making of a fight sequence. Now the major news about this fully completed film is that one of the fights in the movie is supposed to have mind blowing action, and involves Surya fighting at the tip of a 600-feet valley. That daring stunt scene in this movie was entirely shot in Africa.

According to the director and the lead actor this new movie will be noted for it's innovative stunts and risk fight sequences which were choreographed by Kanal Kannan and a Hollywood stunt master France, with safety precautions undertaken.

With these informations out, the expectations are very much high with this new Surya starrer Ayan. Let's hope this film will be able to match up with the viewers expectation.

Suresh Gopi in Black Daliya

Black Daliya, is the name of a new Malayalam movie. The shooting for this movie is currently progressing and the director of the movie is actor Baburaj, husband of yesteryear actress Vani Vishwanath. This new film features about Ten heroines who have acted in different languages. The major highlight of the movie is the group of these 10 beutiful girls. They are from various states and one among them is even from our neighbouring country, Sri Lanka.

The other important thing that is to be noted in relation to the movie is that Vani Vishwanath and Suresh Gopi are doing two central characters in it. Vani will play the role of a DIG in police and the name of her character will be Daisy Wilfred. Suresh Gopi will don the role of a forensic psychiatrist named Dr. Aadikesav. Director of the movie, actor Baburaj himself have penned the script. The camera of the movie is handling by P Sukumar.

M.K.Muhammed, under the banner of M.K Productions is producing this new movie. The story revolves around ten girls studying in Sacred hearts Medical College. Their parents are abroad and they don not love or care for their children. But they give huge amount of money to their children. These girls highly interested in hockey and basketball and have won many university matches. From the primary classes itself they were together and they have developed their own world of friendship. Normally they do not interfere in the issues of other students. There is no ego clash or different opinion among them. But once there is a lapse on the part of the gang. Story develops from this point.

Other than Suresh Gopi and Vani Vishwanath, the director Baburaj who is an actor too will play a prominent role in this movie. Other's in the cast are Sai Kumar, Jagathy, Vijayaraghavan, Siddique, Devan, Skantha, Niyas, Johny, Abusalim, Kollam Thulasi, Saju Kodiyan, Seema, Ambika Mohan and Usha.

Mammootty to be honoured with doctorate

Superstar Mammootty is going to honoured by the Kerala University. The syndicate meeting that was conducted today by the members have decided to confer honorary doctorates on ace film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty and mrudangam expondent Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman. With this our Superstar Mammootty will now onwards called upon as Dr. Mammootty.

Mammootty, who was busy with his shooting schedules was really surprised with this news. "Yes, this is my first honarary doctorate. I am elated because I am being given (it) alongside two great people. I am being told that another university in Kerala is also considering me. Any award is a recognition and I am really happy about this one," said a delighted Mammootty. He also said that he have been working hard this year which comes to a close and he is off again on New Years day when he will commence his newest film Patanathil Bhootham.

Mammootty with his tight schedule have completed his Rafi Mecartin film Love in Singapore. Now he is on to complete his two much anticipated films Pazhassi Raja, with the team Hariharan - M T and Kutty Shranku with Shaji N Karun. By the start of next year Mammootty will complete both the films and will move on to join the sets of Pattanathil Bhootham with Johnny Antony.

Anyway, all the wishes to our Superstar Mammootty for being honoured as Dr. Mammootty.

Malayalam Actors at the end of 2008

There was nothing to surprise in the Malaylam film industry, since both the Superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal still ruled the industry comforatably. They have been togetherly ruling the industry for more than 20 years. As per the theatrical graphs, most successful 5 star actors have been chosen for the Top 5 actors of 2008. They are

1) Mohanlal :- Mohanlal, one of the most talented actor in Indian film indsutry had a great number of releases in this year. Eight releases in a calender year, this is for the first time in Mohanlal's career, since he became Superstar. Out of those eight releases, he had a Mega Blockbuster in the form of Twenty 20 and a Super Hit in Maadambi and two hits in Innathe Chintavishayam and Kurukshetra. Among other's Mizhil Sakshi, Akashagopuram and Pakal Nakshtrangal belongs to the offbeat category, where the performance of Mohanlal was well appreciated from all around. His greatest dud of the year was in the film College Kumaran, which completely failed at the box office. With a winning ratio of 50%, he is rock solid at the top.

2) Mammootty :- Mammootty, the other Superstar of Mollywood had six releases in this year to his name. He had a Mega Blockbuster in the form of Twenty 20 and a Super Hit in Annan Thambi and a hit in Roudram. While his other releases like Parunthu, MayaBaazar and One Way Ticket (Guest) were utter flops at the box office. Though he too have 50% winning percentage, he could only manage the second spot due to the failure of his two mainstream films.

3) Jayaram :- Jayaram was not even in the frame for last two or three years, but have made a strong come back with the film Veruthe Oru Bharya. He had a Mega Blockbuster in Twenty 20 and a Blockbuster in Veruthe Oru Bharya while his remaining three films like Novel, Magic Lamp and Parthan Kanda Paralokam were utter failure at the box office. Though he is the only actor to have two blockbusters with his name, his winning percentage made him third.

4) Prithviraj :- Most promising youngster in Mollywood, Prithviraj had about four films with his name. His two Onam releases, Thalapavu and Thirakatha were well accloaded by the critics as well as the viewers. Among them, Thirakatha went on to become a hit while Thalapavu ended up as an average earner. With these two films he once proved that he will be the next generation Superstar. But his other two commercial films Lollipop, which featured almost all the youngsters in the industry and One Way Ticket have failed to make it big at the box office. He had made a guest appearnace in the Mega Blockbuster Twenty 20 too.

5) Dileep :- Out of his four major releases this year, Dileep had managed to occupy with a Mega Blockbuster in the form of Twenty 20 and a expected hit in Crazy Gopalan, which had taken a descent opening at the box office. Other two films Calcutta News and Mulla were declared as flops. With beutifully combining a film like Twenty 20, Dileep deserves an accloade for him. This fact have helped him to achieve the fifth spot among the top actors.

The major guy to loose out from this list will be Suresh Gopi himself. With a string of continuous five flops- Sound of Boot, Laptop, Ayudham, Thavalam, Bullet this year and with only a Mega Blockbuster in Twenty 20 by the year end, he was not able to make into the last five. I wish, in the next year also each of these stars will come up with much more good films and will keep on the job of entertaining us.

Surya's Adhavan

Young Tamil Superstar Surya's new film with director K S Ravikumar has now been titled as Adhavan. This is for the first time that the actor and the director are going to work togther. Both of them are very much popular among the Tamil audience, so the expectation with the film will be much bigger. Nayan Thara will be the heroine for this movie and both Surya and Nayan Thara are joining together for their second film in together, where the first film was Ghajani.


Actor Surya, who have completed his new movie Ayan with the director K V Anand is now in a rest since both the director K S Ravikumar and the heroine Nayan Thara are busy their earlier committments. Before starting this new Surya starrer, K S Ravikumar have wrap up his film Jaggubhai, starring Sarath Kumar and Shriya Saran in the lead. Also Nayan Thara has to complete her film Body Gaurd with director Siddique in Malayalam starring Dileep.


With this unexpected break in his career, Surya decides to spent it with his family. Now with a small daughter for him and actress Jyothika, he likes to spent as many time he gets with her. Her name is Dia. Meanwhile his last release Vaaranam Aayiram with Gautham Vasudev Menon, was a hit at the box office and his characters in the movie was well appreciated from all around. This also added sweet in his resting time.


Surya will start the film Adhavan within a short span of time, since he is committed with a couple of other movies too. Those movies will start only after Surya completes this flick. Those movies are Mugamudi and Singam with Mysskin and Hari respectively. Surya is currently in a good mood with his last release being a hit and the upcoming film Ayan carrying a good preview report, which has Tamanna as his co star in it.

Jayaraj to do a Mammootty flick

Jayaraj, one among the notable directors in Malayalam film industry is now all set to do a new film with Superstar Mammootty in the lead. Jayaraj is a typical type of director who can make classic or so called art films and mass masala films at a time. Major examples for this will be Desadanam and 4 The people series, where the former is a National award won movie and the latter is a commercial hit.

It have been hearing for some years that Jayaraj is planning for a Mammootty movie, but now only it is going to happen. The director himself have confirmed the news. The script of the movie will be handled by script writer as well as director Renjith. The other's in the cast will be fixed only after dates of the Superstar are comfirmed.

The team of Jayaraj - Renjith - Mammootty have earlier made a film called as Johny Walker. It was back in 1993. At that time both Renjith and Jayaraj were not popular as today, so that film was a crucial one in their career. The film after an impressive opening, failed to become a big hit, but was noted for its technical fineness and stylistic workouts. Now after 15 years, the old team is reuniting to create a hsitory.

The condition existing today is some what similar to the days of Johny Walker, since both Renjith and Jayaraj are struggling with a series of flops in their career. So yet again this Mammootty project is going to be a crucial one for both the established technicians.

Dileep to taste the success

Dileep, one among the popular stars in Malayalam film industry was struggling for sometimes due to lack of a memorable hit film in the past two years. After the Hit film Vinodayathra, which was scripted as well as directed by Sathyan Anthikad, Dileep wasn't able to manage a hit for himself. Though his recent film Twenty 20 became a Mega Blockbuster, the credit of the film was shared by all the stars in the industry, since it was a Multi starrer featuring all the leading artists in Mollywood.

After a long gap, Dileep can relax now because his latest release, Crazy Gopalan will be a hit. The initial collection reports of the film suggests that this Dileep starrer will emerge as the winner for Christmas season. Crazy Gopalan have collected more than 1.2 crores from its first four days, which is relatively high than the recent Dileep starrers. Deepu Karunakaran was the director of this Dileep starrer.

The only other Christmas release of this year, Lollipop starring almost all the youngsters have failed to match up with the expectations of the viewers. This fact also have helped Crazy Gopalan to achieve such a good opening. With some more days left in the Christmas holidays and also with a new year approaching, the movie is expected to do some descent business at the box office.

The other factor which is in favourable to the film is that the song starting like 'Gopala...' have clicked and as a result more and more children are coming to watch the movie. Dileep have a cartoon hero type image among the children with his films like CID Moosa and Ee Parakkum Thalika etc.

Also it is to be noted that there is not even a single major release for next two or three weeks until Superstar Mohanlal's Red Chillies reaches the theatres. This too will help the film to do the business. Anyway Dileep will be a happy man now.

Asin appreciated well from all around

Asin, a South Indian actress has now turned on to an actress popular in a wide range. She is now rated as one among the most popular actresses in India. She went on to achieve such a great thing through her debut film in Bollywood, Ghajani along with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan. Before such a big oppurtunity she was the queen of South with lots of hit films with various Superstars of Tamil as well as Telugu film industry.

Asin, a Malayalee by birth made her debut in a Malayalam movie Narendran Makan Jayakandan Vaka, alongside Kunchakko Boban which was directed by Sathyan Anthikad. Later she went on to do Tamil films and gets noticed there with some tremendous hits with Ajith, Surya, Vijay etc. She even did Dasavatharam with Kamal Haasan, which was a huge hit.

Her career met a turning point with her performance in the film Ghajani in Tamil with Surya. That film was a huge huge hit and when Aamir watched the movie, he got interested in it and decided to remake it into Hindi with Asin as the heroine of the remake too. Now the Hindi version of Ghajani have reached the theatres and her character in the movie and the movie itself have been appreciated well by the viewers.

With such a bumber opening, Asin is flooded with lots of offers from Bollywood. She is now doing London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgun. Many from the film industry have watched the movie Ghajani and all of them have congratulated Asin for her brilliant performance. Some among them are Surya - the hero of the original Ghajani, Priyadarshan - the top director of Bollywood, Ilayathalapathy Vijay, his wife Sangeetha, Jyothika, Jayam Ravi, K S Ravikumar, Khushboo, Harris Jayaraj etc.

Prithviraj flying high

Prithviraj, the younger Superstar in Mollywood, is currently busy with his tight schedule. His latest film in Malayalam, Lollipop was his Christmas offering to the viewers. Lollipop though failed to match up with the expectations of the audience is making not that much bad collections from the theatres all across Kerala. It is already rated average by the viewers, and for that the makers of the film were forced to edit the film, especially the climax scenes.

Prithviraj, was engaged in the sets of Ravana directed by Mani Ratnam until this Christmas. Now he is in the sets of Calendar directed by Mahesh. Shortly he will join the sets of Punyaham Aham directed by Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai's grandson Raj Nair. The location of Punyaham Aham is Ottappalam. At the same time, he will co operate with another movie too which will be directed by Sundar Das, titled as The Reel.

This is the second film between Prithviraj and Sundar Das after the film Katha which sadly never got released in theatres. In this new film, Prithviraj will appear as a film director with the name Renjith. The others in the cast are yet to be finalised. The script of the movie was handled by Reji Nair who earlier scripted movies like Pattalam and Oruvan.

Another important news is that Prithviraj's Hit Malayalam movie Ananda Bhadram is all set to release in a dubbed version in Tamil as Sivapuram. It also featured Kavya Madhavan, Manoj K Jayan, Riya Sen, Kalabhavan Mani and Biju Menon. It was filmed by Santhosh Sivan. The other major projects that are waiting for Prithvi's dates are Puthiya Mukham to be directed by Deepan. His other projects of 2009 include the works of Shaji Kailas, A.K Sajan and K. Madhu.

Sunil Shetty to do Mohanlal's character

One of the major hits in the Malayalam film industry, Keerthichakra starring Superstar Mohanlal and Tamil actor Jeeva is now going to be remade in Hindi. Major Ravi, the director of the original is the man who is going to remake the film. The script of both the films was handled by the director himself. It is now heard that Sunil Shetty will replace Mohanlal in the Hindi remake of Keerthichakra.

Keerthichakra, one of the memorable hits in 2006 was a film zoomed in on the fight against Kashmir militancy. It featured Mohanlal as Major Mahadevan, which then went on to become a huge role model among the youth. Gopika was the heroine of that movie. Keerthichakra was also a turning point in the career of it's director Major Ravi, because it was after this movie he got recognized in the industry though he have made a film earlier titled as Punarjani.

After the huge success of Keerthichakra, the director went on to make two other films too Mission 90 Days a film based on Rajiv Gandhi's assassination with Mammootty in the lead and then the recent Kurukshetra with Mohanlal featuring him as Kenel Mahadevan, as a sequel to the character of Mohanlal in Keerthichakra. Major Ravi's Keerthichakra have also released in the Tamil as Aran featuring the same lead.

It is to be noted that Major Ravi have got National award for his film Keerthichakra as the best Patriotic film of the year 2006. As per the initial reports, the director have already started the script works of the new Hindi movie. As of now, more details about the movie is not available and the details are expected to reach to the press very soon.

Kamal Haasan to do a movie with Mammootty

Three time National award winners Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan and Superstar from Malayalam, Mammootty are going to act together for the first time in Kamal Haasan's new movie. They are considered to be the true legends of modern Indian cinema. They have contributed tremendousily for the upgradation of Indian cinema.

Kamal Haasan has already started working for his new project which will be the remake of hindi classic A Wednesday. He is now trying with all possible ways to buy the rights of this hindi film. Kamal Haasan likes to cast Mammootty in the role of a cop in the movie which was played by Anupam kher in the original. Kamal will play the role enacted by Naseerudeen shah. It was also heard that Mammootty have expressed his desire to work along with Kamal Haasan.

Earlier after the huge success of Dasavatharam, Kamal Haasan was planning to make an epic film called as Marmayogi, but later it got shelved and he changed himself to do a mass masala film titled as Thalaivan Irukkiran. It was heard that the other Superstar of Malayalam, Mohanlal will play a vital role in that movie. But the latest news suggests that Thalaivar Irukkiran may too have get shelved.

This is not for the first time that a Kamal movie is getting shelved, it have been started from Kamal's dream project Maruthunayakam and is still going on. Anyway let's hope Kamal will stick along with this new project and we may able to see the legends of Indian cinema, both Kamal Haasan and Mammootty together in a movie.

Ranbir says no to Vipul Shah

Ranbir Kapoor, son of yesteryear star Rishi Kapoor and the upcoming superstar is busy with his tight schedules these days. Though his debut film Saawariya was a dud at the box office, some how he managed to make his presence at the Bollywood. Also his second release Bachna Ae Haseeno, an average earner by Yash Raj films have helped him to get noticed at the box office. Now he have lots of projects in his hand and is currently at the peak of his career.

Rajnithi, Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Kahani are the upcoming projects from Ranbir Kapoor in the future. It is also rumoured that Ranbir have bagged a Mani Ratnam film too, but it is not confirmed yet. Bollywood's one of the great Vipul Shah have offered Ranbir a role in his upcoming film but it's heard that Ranbir have turned down the offer due to his tight schedule.

Vipul Shah's new project is a film loosely based on Hollywood's Super hit Back to the Future by Robert Zemecki. Akshay Kumar and Aiswarya Rai Bachchan will play the lead roles in the movie where Ranbir was offered by the role of their son, presented by Michael J. Fox in the original version of Hollywood. The film centers on a teenage lad who is unexpectedly sent back and forth in time of present-past-future and meets his parents at his high-school days.

Anyway, Ranbir is now rated high among the new generation stars with the various films that he have in his kitty. Now by turning down Vipul Shah's film that statement is rock solidly proved.
