Kidnap : The review

'Kidnap', a Sanjay Gadhvi film is expected to do much in the hindi film industry. After the successfull Dhoom series ( Dhoom and Dhoom 2) the director had tried to repeat the same style of narration. Also another thing that should be considered is that this Sanjay Gadhvi film, is not under the famous Yash raj banner.

This Sanjay Gadhvi film contains the more experienced, 'Sanjay Dutt' as Vikrant Raina ( New York-based Indian businessman), cutest younger heroine of Bollywood, 'Minisha Lamba' as his daughter Sonia, and the latest sensetion of the industry, 'Imraan khan' as Kabir, who kidnaps Sonia. These three guys are the leading actors in this film.

Kidnap is a power tussle between a young boy and the father of the girl he kidnaps. Sonia lives with her mother, Mallika (Vidya Malvade) and grandmother because her parents divorced when she was ten. A week before her eighteenth birthday celebration, she gets kidnapped. The abductor, Kabir is interested in speaking only to her father, Vikrant Raina , with whom he has an old score to settle. Kabir doesn't demand ransom and Vikrant finds himself in a trapped situation where he has to follow whatever tasks Kabir asks him to carry out to find the whereabouts of his daughter. What is the task? What is Kabir's motive? What compels Kabir to adopt this dangerous path of abduction? This forms the rest of the story.

In 'Kidnap', nothing else rather than some action scenes and the mind blowing bikini scene of Minisha Lamba have worked out. When compared with the Dhoom series, this film lost it's racy path and turned out to be an ordinary one. The film also contains some scenes which a viewer cann't identify in a single view.

When it comes to performance, Imran surpasses the rest of the cast. Imran, with only his second outing, have outperformed the experienced Sanjay Dutt, who have been in this industry for last three decades. But according to me, Imran deserved a better outing. Sanjay Dutt appeared to be little lazy throughout this film, giving us a feeling that he is too old to do such characters. Minisha Lamba have performed more with her beuty of skin, rather than her acting abilities.

The writer Shibani Bathija who have scripted hits like Fanaa and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna should have done better, dialogues are pathetic. The concept was good, just the writing suffers. Allan Amin has modishly designed the chase sequence with some credibly crafted Spiderman styled stunts on an under-construction edifice. Pritam for a change comes up with an average soundtrack. And at last, director Sanjay Gadhvi, who have directed this film with the successfull Dhoom series in his mind, have failed to impress the audience as well as failed miserably.

All in all, 'Kidnap' is a film which according to me is a mismatched puzzle. It takes the backseat when it comes to a logical story but manages to get through as a good time-pass.
