Malayalam Box Office

Last month in Malayalam film industry entirely belongs to AMMA's Multistarrer Twenty 20. Even after 30 days from it's release, Twenty 20 is making waves all along the Kerala. According to the box office reports, Twenty 20 continues to retain the top slot at the box office followed by the films like Veruthe Oru Bharya and Kurukshetra in the successive positions. The most notable thing is that other than these three, there is not a single Malayalam film that has managed to stay afloat at the box office.

The film that features almost all stars in an industry including the Superstars was directed by veteran Joshiy, with the script by Udayakrishna and Sibi K. Thomas. The film was produced by Dileep under his own banner Grand Productions, for collecting some fund for the film artists association AMMA. Twenty 20 has managed to make a gross collection of over Rs. 80 Lakhs in just three weeks.

Veruthe Oru Bharya is really a second innings for Jayaram in Malayalam film industry. The film proved everyone wrong with it's dreamful run at the box office. Recently, the distributor's of the film Pyramid Saimira have celebrated 125 days of successful run of the movie. Gopika played the role of heroine in this heroine oriented movie. Akku Akbar was the director of the movie which was scripted by K. Gireesh Kumar. The film has brought in a gross collection of over Rs.55 Lakhs.

The Major Ravi directed Mohanlal starrer Kurukshetra, based on the Kargil War, had won over the hearts of film lovers all over Kerala as a well-made war film. The film witnessed a thunderous opening which was an overall record as per the collection but it was later overtaken by Twenty 20. The film was expected to end up it's run as a Mega hit but the wave created by Twenty 20 have made severe set backs to this high budget film so that by the end it will only be merely a Super hit. The film has brought in a gross collection of over Rs.42 Lakhs in 50 days.

Let's now wait and watch whether the films that are slated for a Christmas release can make it big after these films. Best wishes for those films.
