Though Mammootty have rubbished this news saying that he was too busy with movies to enter politics, a popular as well as a senior Left leader on condition of anonymity reportedly said that though formal talks are yet to begin, LDF leaders are likely to consider Mammootty's name in the forthcoming elections. The speculation began to circulate from July last year, and it have raised to it's peak when Mammootty was once again elected as the Chairman of Kairali Television Channel, which is considered to be a CPM-funded Channel.
Everyone in Kerala, his fans as well as the normal people are eagerly waiting for the conformation news either from the star or from the LDF committy. But within this short period of time, many of the critics have pointed out that Mammootty's massive popularity as a superstar will not guarantee his political success, since Kerala is known among other South Indian states for not being kind to actors turned politicians. They are giving the case of Prem Nazir and Murali as examples.
Currently Mammootty is at Kochi, busy with shooting for his latest project Johnny Antony's Pattanathil Bhootham which is expected to hit theatres during Vishu 2009. Anyway, everyone will have to wait for some more time to get a clear picture about this whole issue. Let's hope Mammootty will take a wise decision in this case.
