Siddique and Lal were considered to be one of the talented as well as hit duo of directors Malayalam film industry have ever witnessed. They were good friends from their childhood onwards. They have started their film career together as assistants to the veteran director Fazil.Shortly, they become independent directors with the film Ramji Rao Speaking, in 1989 which was produced by Fazil. They then went on to do films like In harihar Nagar, God Father, Vietnam Colony and Hitler. After these films they decided to break up with a mutual understanding. It was about a decade ago with Siddhique turning an independent director and Lal becoming a successful producer.
As both of them operated on different areas of film making, they never had a chance to clash on filmi matters and remained as thick friends. But now, it's seems that both these thick friends will have to fight it out at the box office, in order to prove who is better among them. Siddique's much awaited Dileep - Nayan Thara starrer Body Gaurd will go neck to neck with Lal's first venture as an independent director, To Harihar Nagar, that too is a sequel to the hit film In Harihar Nagar.
Both the films were slated for a release on April 9 2009, as a grand Vishu offering, but now it is heard that Lal have backed out from a battle with his thick friend at the box office. As per the latest reports, To Harihar Nagar will hit the screens only after about three weeks after the Vishu weekend.
So most probably there will not be a straight battle between these two friends. Film lovers will have to wait for some other occasion to witness a clash between these two thick friends.
