Actually Mammootty's bilingual project Vande Matharam was scheduled to reach the theatres for this Ponkal season, but it got postponed once again. So Vaishaka release, distributors of this film decided to release it for this January. It means that Superstar Mohanlal's first release of the year Red Chillies will not hit the theatres soon because the distribution rights of that film too was acquired by Vaishaka release.
The inmates in the industry says that producer of Mohanlal's Red Chillies, Renjith of Rejaputhra films have asked for an hike in the price of the film which was made on first copy basis, but the distributor refused to budge. This move made the movie to get indefinitely postponed. Thus Vaishaka release, who have acqiured the theatres for this Mohanlal starrer have decided to release the Mammootty starrer instead of Mohanlal's Red Chillies.
Technically, it now clearly states that Mohanlal will not have a release in January this year and his fans will have to wait for some more time to enjoy his any release. Most probably Mohanlal's next release will be Bhagawan, which in all probability will hit the theatres by the first week of February.
